Might have found a good deal on a Nikon 40D with the standard lens package: Nikon D40 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens. My sis and I are looking to get this for my mom who is really in to photography. Just need to get her going in the right direction. For a first DSLR is this a good one to start with if the deal is right? What other package type deal would be a good camera to start with, Digital Rebel XSI? Thanks,

The D40 will do just about everything anyone getting started in digital could want. Lots of room to grow/learn with it's features. I've enjoyed mine.Comment

D40 is a good starter. I had mine for a year and then went to the D90.Comment
