    Need some teleconverter info....

I'm new to the long lens game.

I have the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 on my D90, and I am wanting to use a teleconverter to grab some longer shots this season...
    Which do you recommend?
Anyone used one with this lens?

My first thought is to get this 1.4, I know that will give me some reach, and it just may be enough...

    Pros/cons/comments?

    Hillary,
I am also in the market for one of these for the same lens on my D700. From what I have researched, the TC 14E is the best one based on the reviews I have read. People talk about not losing any sharpness etc. with the 1.4. On the TC 17E I also have read great things about it but the commonality is that you lose a tad bit of sharpness with the 1.7.
The 1.4 will give give you 280mm while the 1.7 will give you 340mm. I go back and forth between the two and am leaning toward the 1.4 just because of the research I have done showing no loss of sharpness with it.

Good discussion as I need one too.

Casey commented to me about the 1.4 vs 1.7 a while back.... maybe he'll chime in with his vast cranial intellect.

Kenko's 1.4 performs just as well and at a much better price.

I'm a fan of the Kenko 1.4x. I get great results from mine and am a bit afraid of the loss of quality associated with the 2.0. Not to mention being robbed of a little more light with it.

If it has glass in it, you get what you pay for. I can't speak on the 1.5x they make, but with it being half the cost of the 1.4x, I'm going to assume it does not perform as well.

This is out of my 300mm with the Kenko 1.4x attached.

I have read great reviews on the 1.4 and the 1.7, but not so good on the 2.0. These are the Nikkor TC's. My next purchase will be the 1.7 TC.

I've been reading and reading on both of them, and I am leaning towards the 1.7....
