if you cant find old wood use new wood. 1st.Hit it with a hammer, drag nails on it scratch it up pretty good.2nd in a bucket add vinegar and steel wool let it set for a day 3rd add water 50/50 mix 4th. paint it on the wood 5th instant barn wood. the longer you let the mixture set the darker it gets. Google it make new wood look old

That's a pretty good trick! I didn't think of that.

I used to do something similar in my furniture building days.

I would brush bleach on wood and set in sun for a day after distressing it. Then strain with rust, watered down paint, or actual stain. Finish with a furniture wax. It works, but there is a little art to it.
