Go for it. I have M70 338 Win that has the same Leupold rings on it that were installed in 1988. They haven't moved and the Talley's are better than that.

.338 is a pussycat. No problem with those rings.

I should have said bases. If weight is not an issue (I have a .340 Weatherby that has to be 12-13 pounds), go heavy and clunky. However, there is no concern with the durability of those bases.

Those are the exact rings I put on my 338 and have had no issues, I did get the scope rings lapped by a gunsmith also.
