Seventy-two years after two torpedoes fired from a Japanese submarine sank cruiser USS Indianapolis (CA-35), the ship’s wreckage was found resting on the seafloor on Saturday – more than 18,000 feet below the Pacific Ocean’s surface.

Wow, I can't imagine the stories...or nightmares. My friend has an original front page from the Memphis newspaper that covered the sinking of the Indy once the news broke.

I had a client - who recently passed - that was a 19 year old kid on a destroyer tender sunk by a Jap sub. Same kind of story as the Indianapolis - sailors in the water for days getting picked off by sharks. Being a war history geek I couldnt help myself - I asked him about it a couple of times. He wanted to tell me the story he could not get very far into it without breaking down. I can't imagine how experiencing that as a teenager would effect the rest of your life.
