Default Meeting a murderer

Earlier this week I was checking the local headlines and see a story about a 19 yr old "man" arrested for murdering his father. I see the name and mug shot and say "oh crap, I know that guy." Turns out it's a guy that I used to train jiu jitsu with. We had sparred and conversed on several occasions. He was extremely well mannered, respectful and disciplined in his attendance.

My wife was horrified that my son had been in the presence of an alleged murderer.....

What about you, ever met a murderer before?

When I was a GW in rural Al I lived across the road from a State Correctional Farm. One of the inmates that was in for murder used to stay at my house and do work for me. He killed a man in a bar fight. He was a hard worker, very polite and never gave me cause for concern. Heck, I even took him deer hunting with a rifle. Depends on the man and why he killed.

I frequently stayed over at my neighbors house when I was 10 or so. One day I went over there to play some Nintendo or something.... only to find out several days later his father (who was sitting with us at the time) had just stabbed a girl to death the next street over for playing the radio to loud moments before I got there.

Went to high school with a guy that killed someone as an initiation into the skinheads. Sat next to him in science class in 9th grade and used to argue with him over who was the finest girl in class. One day sophomore year he didn't show up to school. He got 40yrs and is still in the Stiles Unit in Beaumont.

When we lived in Manor, I met this fella, his girlfriend and his girlfriend kid that live catty corner to us. He was a nice guy, he came over to the house and helped me load up a deer stand one day, and move some other heavy items onto the trailer.
The next month I came home to find my street completely sealed off, apparently the guy when off his rocker and killed the girlfriend and her kid. He was on the run from the cops for a short while.

back in the 90's I had one that worked for the company I worked at for a couple of years. He was a very hard worker, kept his head down and did his job. He had done 20 years and was convicted at 18 for killing another kid in a fight at school party.

The older brother of a girl I dated back in high school killed his wife because she wanted a divorce. Looking at him you would never imagine he was capable of that. Just a little nerdy dude. Johnny got a life sentence.

The little brother of a friend of mine killed my girlfriends ex-boyfriend at a dance one night. Little brother got his arse kicked by the ex-boyfriend and went to his truck, got his gun and came back and shot him. He got off on self defense! I never understood that one.

Yep Bart Whitaker. Tried to kill his whole family to get insurance money. Well he had someone do it. The sick part about him, his brother was killed. His brother was an Aggie and during Muster Bart was the one who said here.

Yep I know a couple. The last one I disagree with. He should have gotten off on self defense but got railroaded. I think the prosecution knows it. He is due to get out in a couple of years. I think he will end up only serving about 7 years. He could have appealed but if he took this deal he had already served about 1/2 of the time so he took the sure thing. I still call both of them friends.

My BIL told me about his encounter with one. He was a guy that had worked at the family business for about 5 or so years and was one of the hardest workers there. Well come to find out he sold crack on the side. Well my BIL was in the lobby talking with our cousin, the owner, and some other guys waiting on parts to arrive so they could start the day, and the other guy was is in the back doing something. He said his cousins face went into a blank stare kinda state looking past him. So just as my BIL turns around, a person put his hand on his shoulder and it was SWAT, sheriffs and a couple of the local law enforcement. Basically they didn't know if he was going to go quietly. They took the guy with no resistance, they had the place surrounded. Well from what the sheriff said was that he was wanted for murder of a couple of gang members and his girlfriend, along with other drug stuff.

All through my grade school years there was a girl who sat within a couple desks of me for homeroom (alphabetical order). Probably from K all the way through graduation. She was a cheerleader and we were on yearbook staff together..Beautiful girl as were her older and younger sisters (who my sis knew very well).

Turns out post-partum depression can take someone and make them into something you could never imagine. She killed two of her kids and remains in prison to this day. Tragic.

Ran a call on a murdered woman, boyfriend was outside saying he had just come home and found her dead. We had a feeling that he had actually killed her. He did not act like a guy who had just found someone he loved dead. Turns out that feeling was justified.

Been 2-3 events like this in 15 years

I have met and dealt with two true serial killing machines. I might as well have been looking into a shark's eyeball. One of these men chewed a victim while she was still alive.

Went to school with a guy & he was a neighbor. He killed 2 little girls & tried to blame it on a black guy. The guy used to be or dress up like a clown. He was finally caught & was executed for it. This was in Houston, Tx.

Of all the ones I have arrested or investigated the one I remember the most was a 13 year old boy that killed his parents in 1999. I was taking him to jail and he said, "I guess I'm in a lot of trouble aren't I". I cannot begin to describe to you how messed up that kid's head was back then. Some people in the community said he and his brothers had a hard life behind closed doors, others said his parents were great people. I don't know which side to believe but I lean toward his parents being way too tuff on them boys. He's out of jail now but I don't know where he is or what he is doing.

Quite a few. The worst, I grew up with through high school. He had a troubled upbringing, with an abusive family. One day, he hid in the kitchen of his moms house and waited for her to get home. When she walked in the kitchen, he shot her in the head, and stuffed her in a closet. He took her car, and rode around like nothing had happened. Still in prison and doubt he ever gets out.

Yep, a couple acutally.

One guy was about 2 years younger than me growing up. His sister and my brother were sweethearts in jr high school. I played little league baseball with him. He and I tolerated each other growing up (his sister was hot, lol). About my senior year in high school he made an inappropriate comment to my girlfriend, right in front of me, while he was drunk. I popped him in the mouth a couple of times and then just walked away because it wasn't a fair fight with him being so drunk. Turns out some years later, he and another guy killed their roommate for not paying his part of the rent on time. He died in prison in 2007. Allan Hubbard

https://www.arktimes.com/arkansas/th...nt?oid=3908358

And this guy was a brother of a friend in high school. I didn't really know him, but met him a few times at school functions over the years. Slit his girlfriends throat and threw her body in the river in Pine Bluff, AR where I grew up.

http://opinions.aoc.arkansas.gov/web...628/Page1.aspx

Now that I think about it, considering where I grew up, I'm sure I've been face to face with a few more, just don't know it.

Oh yeah, don't know how I forgot about this one. My oldest daughter was in kindergarten class with their oldest boy, met her at a PTA meeting or some such a time or two. VERY strange couple, so wasn't too surprised. Nor was I at the "graveside birthday party"...........

I've met and talked to several people over the years that have killed people. Only a couple were ever classified as murder and/or served time. All of them had deep regrets for what happened.
I have also had to testify at a murder trial as an eye witness for the prosecution.

Grew up in the same neighborhood with a vicious rapist and murder. He even asked me and the wife to go to a party one night. I said no. Next morning a sweet young girl was found across the street from the party raped, mutilated and murdered...

Went to HS with a kid that is in jail, he didn't shoot anyone that I'm aware of, but because him and his buddy decided it was a good idea to try and rob a drug deal two guys died. The guy they were robbing called a buddy for help and he came in the back door and startled the drug dealer and the drug dealer wheeled around and shot him dead not realizing it was his help that he called and the other kid who was trying to rob the drug dealer with the guy I knew got killed also.

My uncle killed my aunt, he is out of prison now but he is a weird dude and I don't have anything to do with him.
I have another uncle who killed a man in a bar fight but was never charged, the guy pulled a knife and paid a heavy price.
