Meet up with the seller and see if they hold pressure. Check fount for rust on the inside. After that make seller an offer.

Here is a lantern that I just restored. I got this lantern from Timm (2050z). We put in together and bought several old lanterns and stoves. This is an interesting lantern. It has a font dated 8-1959 but it has a 220F collar. 220F did not exist in 1959. Apparently this lantern had been rebuilt before. I used parts off two different lanterns for this rebuild. It came out pretty good. The pictures will take you from start to finish.

It's kind of a running joke with Mike. He puts mustard on everything. And I mean everything. Watched him put mustard on chocolate chip cookies and eating them.

The coca cola really does work. It's way cheaper than Metal Rescue. Get some brass polish and get to work. Casey used some kind of polishing tool on one of his lanterns.

I used Coke on this brass. Metal Rescue also works. Be careful with the Metal Rescue. It is STRONG. I had it eat thru a rusty font.

Nice blue flame breakfast at the lease this morning on my 1982 425F. I bought this stove new at Sears along with a 288 double mantle lantern. Both still burn great

I used my worksharp knife sharpener and a buffing wheel to make really blacked up burner parts shine!

That stuff just removed the rust that was clogging up the hole.

I left the Metal Rescue in the font too long. It found a rusted weak spot and ate thru.

I do. I'm knee deep in putting this '49 lantern back together...thanks to this thread and a rainy day.

Is thread dope required on these things? I can't remember.

I'll post a pic shortly.

I ordered an original glass for my Dad's 220K from 1981. He had busted it crappie fishing over at the lake. The glass came in yesterday, I put some mantles on it, and it fired right up! Other than cleaning it up, I haven't, and won't, do anything else to it. It will stay just the way it was when he had it and will be used as-is.

I found a 200A, Red in my birth month and year. It's near new in box. Pricey, though. Can't get up the nerve to leap on it.

That is a nice looking lantern. It would be very tempting. Guess it depends on what else you want to spend the $190 on.

Timm, it was an honor to finally meet you...

I have a funny story about the heater I got from you..

I got home from Houston this morning, and just couldn't stand it no longer...

Went by Wally world to get more fuel, and got home with intentions of firing this heater up... After 3 attempts, and soaking the catalyst all over, it is ginnin..

But. My next door neighbor was leaving for work at 5:15am, and saw the 3 ft. Flames, stopped,,, and thought my house was on fire... Called 911... After I splained what was happening, we got it straitened out.

It is now 6:15,, and the heater is glowing like it did in March, 1970.

Thank you , sir.

Great to meet you as well. Next time turn the heater upside down and let the fuel create the silver dollar spot. Light it and it it will work.

Glad your neighbor has your back.

Ok lantern experts, this one I got from my granddad.....I have pictures of it at their deer camp in the 40's or 50's. It has a patent date of June 25, 1929 on the bottom but I don't think it is the original top. If its not the correct top what should it look like and where can I find one?
