    No one blamed the gun!

When JFK was shot. My, have times have changed. Politically correct in today's world.

Yeah, before PC took hold we blamed the actor not the tools used in the act.
But these days blaming mental illness is not PC and the socialist in our gov. And teaching institutions see the light at the end of the tunnel and the finish line is the disarmament of the population.

That's quite a revelation. But you're only partially correct, kinda. I don't recall an uproar from the general populace, but obviously the lawmakers at the time did blame the weapon.
It brought about the Gun Control Act of 1968 and the infamous form of registration that we call the "Yellow Sheet". And spawned the despicable ATF, then known as the BATF.
Oswald's weapon (although I still ain't convinced that he was the shooter) was obtained through mail order. That right went away with the 68 Act.

For whatever it's worth, I didn't just google this information. I lived through it and I was paying attention. I was 17 years old when Kennedy got shot, a senior in high school. And a gun owner already, had three of them: A Mossberg 151K semi-auto .22, a Winchester model 94 30/30 and a little Stevens model 311 side-by-side 20 gauge. The shotgun bought by mail order; Sears & Roebuck.

The weapon was not blamed as much as the way it was bought. The assassination of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King forced the issue again and the NRA also agreed with the bill. Unfortunately mentally ill people are still buying guns and our wonderful news media glorifies the mass shootings.

Yeah, you said that better than I did. Semantics, I suppose; but that is when and how restrictions began. And you are correct, NRA did endorse it.

Yes sir, I reckon the times are changing. One or two more big school shootings and they will be legislation passed. Aint no one cares no more, they get mad and go get a gun.
