I've killed a few in the 130's and had a 150+ in front of me for a couple of sits that wasn't old enough for lease rules. The 150 was the prettiest deer I've ever seen. This said, I'm still looking for one over 140", which I consider a very good 8.

130 on the left and 147 on the right. 125 and bigger is to me a big 8

I really don't know Mike...I started a thread on him asking & it was all over the place. Really doesn't matter, if I like him & get an opportunity?? I think he is pushing 150 but velvet always throws me off.

Like others, score isn't super important but does give a guideline...if he impresses on the hoof as in the pics, it's a no brainer for me. I have an obsession for big clean 8's.

Depends where you hunt. 130" 8 point for a large part of Texas is a big 8 point.

I always heard the old timers say "It takes a lot to get an eight out of the 130s. " I was fortunate enough to take this eight at the beginning of November last year. Ended up going 142. My biggest buck to date

Yes I know...he's a "9" with the split brow. Even with that deduction he's in the upper 130's. Mature deer. Have to admit it wasn't a bow kill. Had a bow and a gun with me but he was 100+ yards. Anyway, my first TX buck- rough creek lodge in glen rose.

The buck I killed in Ohio grossed over 180" as a main frame 8 and 235ish otherwise with trash. Chance love did the mount and several on here have seen him. But since I killed him on a 1400 acre high fenced ranch up north hes not legit. Whatever impressive buck regardless

I would say 130 is big if low fence and in Texas.
I shot a 140 in the Hill Country and consider it huge.

If I see a 160" 8, I will let my .300 mag "make some music" and my season would be Over.

Some 8's are more impressive than others, I've seen 8's that score a lot less then they appear. The score doesn't always matter with 8 points..

If I was going off of score only, I consider an 8 point over 150" to be "big" less than that and I normally describe them as "good" or "nice". Some ranches produce multiple 8's over 150" almost every season, other parts of the state may not produce one in the entire county.

My Avitar is a 137 from kansas, I thought he was bigger when I shot him and was disappointed with his score, everyone else said I was an idiot and forget score he was a great deer. I also have an 8 over 151 with a 1 inch (at best) g4 on one side.

Wow, there are some incredible 8s on this thread. Considering I have never shot a whitetail over 130, I would say any 8 over 130 would be a big 8 to me.
