Could be an ash. Those compound leaves look opposite. Need bark pic...any hickory nuts underneath?

Never knew what a hickory tree looked like till recently. We just bought a place that has a bunch of hickory trees on it. I did a lot of reading, figured out the mystery trees on our place were hickory, specifically black hickory. Depending on what part of the state you are in, we either have mockernut hickory or black hickory. The mockernut are only in east Texas and eastwards, the black hickory start in east Texas, to central Texas.
