Just finding this thread. Only got to go one day during teal season this year (shutdown at the paper mill I work at). With all this rain the sloughs and pastures are flooded, not just going to be hunting our farm pools in Lamar County this year if it keeps it up! Still havenít seen any big ducks down yet though.

Almost done with the homemade quack rack!
A buddy of mine is hooking it up. Just needs diamond plate and rhino line.

WORP is usually the last weekend of the season. Our fearless leader can't make it this year so we will have to figure things out. A kayak would be tough. It's a good time. Hopefully I will have my boat rigged out and ready by then.

Just trying to make them headless when theyíre feet down in the spread, main reason I got it was for shooting geese.

we'll before the season starts lets talk about some dream hunts.
mine would be cold bay Alaska for a cast and blast. ducks, geese, brants, with salmon and halibut mixed in. the outfitters price isn't to bad but once you factor in flights in gets a little expensive.

I don't think I have any interest in going to Argentina for ducks, may for a dove/pigeon shoot.

i think going someplace where you could chase waterfowl in the morning then do a wild chukar, pheasant or quail hunt in the afternoons would be fun. I also think seaducks or diver hunt in a layout boat would be a cool experience.

what are some other cool waterfowl trips yall have been on or want to go on.

My waterfowl bucket list would be a tundra swan or king eiders.

As for dream hunt, I'm thinking for my 30th birthday in a few years, I want to do either a week in Mexico and bring back a handful of fully plumed birds in February or taking 2 weeks off work and following the migration down starting from Saskatchewan, NoDak, Kansas, OK, ending in TX

Must doís for waterfowl enthusiasts that I have experienced.

Argentina - give you 6 box of shells daily. Thatís your duck limit. Amazing experience

Canada - Alberta or Saskatchewan. Nothing like shooting mallards and honkers over dry pea or barley fields. 8 ducks and 8 geese per day

Arkansas - Green Timber hunt. When itís right itís amazing. Limit 4 mallards

Louisiana - Lake Arthur Club or White Lake. Itís old school and still done the right way. Only way to get to camp is by boat. Cooks, guides, Dogs, Hunters all stay in camp.

Texas gulf coast - pintails and redheads. Afternoon hunts can be better than morning hunts. Mix in a fishing trip in between.

Bucket list for me is Sea Duck hunting. King Eider and Harlequins. Thatís what I want to do next

Managed to shoot a nice mixed bag yesterday morning for the High Plains opener. The amount of water everywhere definitely made it more difficult as the birds can go just about anywhere right now.

Saw a decent amount of Specks and some groups of cranes.

Still a couple weeks until our opener. We got good rains last night and a lot of fields and low spots caught water. The table is being set, just need the weather to cooperate. Pretty decent numbers of specks around & a Few ducks.

Brown truck stopped by my house last night. Now have another doz X-Avian gaddys in the living room floor. Brings my gaddy total up to over 3 doz alone. 34 Canadians both floaters, full bodies, and doz shells. Bunch of mallards and sprigs to round it out to over 10 doz duck dequees. Ain't gonna wast my time adding 3 doz teal dequees in there too . Big water, big sets.

They changed it to one last season, but went back this year. Key thing we have found with pintails is to stay as still as possible if they are circling high over your blind. Weíve had good luck using a pintail whistle bringing them in.
