Our little girl just started walking and every time she would get near the fireplace I got extremely uneasy. Even though myself or my wife was always with her I didn't like the idea of her hitting her head on the hearth.
So, I built this. It slides snugly over the hearth and since we love having fires, I wrapped it in FRC fabric.
I did sheath it with plywood, but did not get a picture of that step.
