    Cheyenne Wyoming things to do

We've been in Loveland/Estes Park area for several days hiking animal watching and having a good time. Cheyenne isn't that far and we've thought about heading up there for a day just to say we've been. Anything that's a must do or see? Two adults and two kids age 9 and 5

We've got a forest fire burning west of Laramie that's sending a lot of smoke that way. Town will be hazing and possibly very smoky. Check out the weather in the morning. If the winds change slightly we'll get it here in Laramie instead.
I shop in Cheyenne but don't do any touristy things.
Lots of museums and check out the depot downtown.
You could take 287 north of Ft Collins and come see Laramie. We have the University, museums too, smaller town and better craft beer, lol. Downtown both places is a neat ,historical walking trip. Lots of western history around. North of Laramie is Tom Horn country,Cheyenne has railroad history too.

Go to Terry Bison Ranch Resort. We stay here when we go to Cheyenne for the rodeo. Pretty cool place. They are mostly RV hook ups, but do have some cabins they rent out. Really great place if you have kids.

Did you make it up? Smoke has been bad in Cheyenne and hit and miss in Laramie.

I should have told you , you could have brought the kids out to the airport and seen the firefighting aircraft in town for the wildfire in Laramie.

Prairie dog shoot could have been arranged too, lol.

We did! Made it to the frontier days old west museum, ate at a burger place downtown and to the bison ranch. When we got ofd the train at the bison ranch the kids were itching to go fishing more so we stopped at another lake in Colorado on the way back to camp.
Smoke wasn't too bad but could definitely see the haze

Be sure and stop at the welcome center in Wyoming. Pretty cool views and small museum.
