Lived it. The real lost was to the '88 marshall mavericks. Undefeated and not a shot at the state championship. On that team was odel Beckham sr and some other studs.

Played at Killeen High, that was my senior year, we played Carter that year and got screwed on a two point conversion to beat them. Played at Carter getting beat 24-23, went for the two point conversion late in the game, our running back knocked over the pylon going into the end zone, ref said he stepped out. Coaches even sent video and pics to UIL, and nothing was changed. They were good, but we know we beat them, We ended up in the playoffs that year only to get thumped by Marshall in the first round. Odell Beckham was a stud!! Carter had some studs too, Superman(Armstead),middle linebacker, and the nose guard was one of the fastest guys on the defensive side.Comment

Just watched last night. Very interesting. As much as I loathe ESPN. I'm not from TX, so wasn't very familiar with it other than the now apparently inaccurate depiction in the movie.
