Default What would you have done if this was your wife?

If your wife caught a home run ball and some other dude grabbed it out of her hand and threw it back on the field what would you have done?

I'd give him a high five. My wife would have thrown it herself though

I'm not debating if the ball should have been thrown back or not. But she caught it. Takes a real super human DB to take it away like that without letting her decide what to do with it.

I'm pretty sure I read it was a friend also. I would still high five even if my wife didn't want to throw it back haha

Admittedly, this is the more baseball than I've watched in my life (combined), so I'm baseball ignorant. Is it customary to throw the ball back?

Yes an opposing team HR especially rivals, playoff, or series

I can promise the guys that would be mad would be waaaay more mad at what the crowd would have been yelling at your wife for keeping it.

This.
I am admittedly not a huge baseball fan anymore, seasons and games are too long to keep my attention. I know enough though that the ball had to go back. The only thing I see wrong with it is he didn't even give her the chance to throw it back herself.

Seems silly. The opponent who hit it prob gets his ball back. So you’ve actually given the batter a prize, and a World Series home run at that

It is customary to throw the other teams homerun back.

I laughed when I saw it because I was thinking as soon as the she caught it to throw it back.

I loved it. Opposing team's hr balls go back onto the field. Me personally, i'd prefer a stranger rip it from my wife's hands than me. One less argument on the way home lol.

Side note: I was disappointed with the first base line fans letting Bellinger catch that pop out. Once a player goes into the stands its fair game to play some defense and keep him from catching it.

It didn't used to be. Cubs fans started that mess and they didn't win a series for a hundred years or so.

A homerun ball is a gift from the baseball gods. Throwing it back risks angering them.

Accept the gift, don't anger the baseball gods and hope they show your team good fortune in the future.

It's a Wrigley field tradition that the rest of the game has glommed onto, and it's stupid to do outside of wrigley.

Anyone who throws a World Series home run ball back, is a moron.

i saw that too. i realize that's the custom to throw it back but that was outta line. He'd have decided it was best for him to go somewhere else after that. other team or not thats still a world series home run ball. not everyone has one just laying around. id be pumped either way to have one

Are we really suggesting violence because of a baseball?

I would have been mad for sure. I would want some sort of restitution, but violence because someone took a ball away? Is this the 3rd grade play ground?

Not thinking it’s about the baseball at all. It’s about someone violating your wife’s personal space to grab something that was NOT his. How would you feel if he snagged a nacho from her?Same principle. Myself, I wouldn’t start flinging fists. But I wouldn’t be silent either. The way things go these days, I’d wind of in jail and have to pay the jack wad on top of that. If it was 1985, then yes, a nose could be flattened. 2017 is a society of ill mannered jack arses.

It's not just a ball at just any game. That ball had significant value. Violence justified for committing a felony against you? Of course.

If the theft offense involves property valued at more than $500, the crime is punishable as a felony, or as a misdemeanor, at the judge's discretion.

She will get something out of this deal with everyone making a big deal about it. I laughed. Customary to do so with opposing teams HRs but some fans like to keep any souvenirs. Faciel expressions is hilarious!

Yea, he would have been following that ball over the wall.

It was the 9th inning after all, so we both would have been pretty lit.

Nope, I'd be leaving the game in cuffs. It's a once in a lifetime chance to catch a ws homerun ball, and if you decide to throw it back its a once in a lifetime honor to be the one that throws it back. Since she was on camera that ball could be sold for 5k easily. I guarantee you him and everyone who would have defended him would leave on multiple stretchers. Then I would sue the ballpark for inefficient security and sue the guy for assault on my wife. BIL status goes out the window and MMA training kicks in to high gear at that point.
