Food Plot Question - Experts ONLY

Yes I know we are all experts

I am heading to the lease on Saturday to check a few things, fill feeder, do some bass fishing, etc.....
Question is Im about a month early to plant, but not sure I'll be back before opening bow season...... Should I risk planting a week early or just wait and do it Sunday before I leave of opening weekend ?

If it was me I would wait as long as possible. These hot days and risk of no more rain would scare me this early. I usually like to plant the 2nd or 3rd weekends of Sept.

        Rule #1

You farm when it’s time to farm.... not when you have time to farm

No way I’d plant a fall crop this time of year

If the dirt is dry they wont grow unit it rains anyways, but I still think its way to early. How big of a food plot are you planting?

Yep, Lowfence nailed it. Mother Nature tells you when she's ready. And it might not be when you have the time.

Not huge, probably 100’ x 40’. Thought about just covering some oats up just in case we get some rain..... probably I’ll wait until opening weekend of bow season and plant.

Pattern change. Flooding rains in August. Plant away

I wouldn't plant this early. I'd wait until opening weekend like the others have stated. You run the risk of getting no rain, birds eating them, hogs rooting them up, etc. I'd just spray and get the plot ready this weekend if you really need to do something.

Well let’s hope. I’m gonna throw a hand full of oats out just in case we get some rain. I’ll save the clover for later in September.
