    Post Kill Depression

After spending so much time and effort on killing my target buck, I now suffer from PKD after I accomplished my goal. My truck is cleaned out and I organized all my hunting stuff. Being driving by the chance to get him for so long, I now have a void in my everyday routine. It will pass, it always does but I always forget how important the journey is. On to the next quest Dilly! Dilly!

It reminds me if coaching football, when you go hard at it for 13-18 weeks straight and then it ends.

I fill your pain. Last night I suddenly realized I have nothing to do for the next 3 weeks.

Take a short break then hunt hogs, put up new stands, explore new areas, look for sheds, cut shooting lanes, etc...

Now is the time to start looking for next years target buck.

I feel your pain except mine is post NON kill depression. I missed a 330”ish elk in September and haven’t felt like hunting since.

Gratitude! No matter how bad things get, I can always do a gratitude list to feel better. Havent been able to hunt for 4 or 5 years now, but I am greatful for so many blessings in my life. Great buck by the way!

Usually sets in right after the animal hits the ground or is found and you remember how much work is required before it's in the freezer and done!

I have zero sympathy for you as I eat tag soup. Time for a new hobby.

I have no sympathy for you whatsoever. At least you killed something. All I killed was time.

Congrats on getting your buck though.
