Last one I was on in La Salle County was $10,000 for 525 ac +/-, 4 guns, and we controlled all hunting-deer, hogs, quail, dove. We controlled the day leasing to outfitters for dove hunts and quail hunts and in good years recovered half or more of the $10k that way. Since I was the only one retired and did 90% of the work clearing, filling, firewood, etc. I had a special privilege. I outfitted for hog hunts and all the money from that went into my pockets.

Alas, the landowner's s-i-l got involved and that went away. My last places have all been free from friends.

Leasing for me in the Ozona area was a little under $10 per acre. This included a house and water. The landowner was awesome. I should of never given that place up, but I stay in contact with the landowner and person I turned it over to. We now have property we own. I bet our price per acre is way above 20 times that currently.

Default Hunting lease what do you pay yearly.

$4200 for roughly 350 acres. Have a camp site with water, electric and septic 2 min from. That price is year round access. Has a 2 acre tank and 5 smaller ones with good fishing. Big tank has okay duck hunting some years. Took a 180 buck off it about four years ago. That price is total for 3 of us.

Agreed. All the guys on our lease are very like minded and the place is much more to us than a place to shoot deer. It is our year round vacation spot. We pay $12.5 an acre.

We bought 63 acres in Southeast Iowa 10 years ago. $90,000. Paid for. We are building a barndominium at this time on our ground here in Iowa. It's going to cost about $220,000. It will be free and clear when we are done I also have access to an additional 900 acres that surround our ground. So we have about $300 grand invested, but all I need is a resident license to hunt.

Per acre prices mean nothing. All depends on location, hunting, and acreage. We pay $21 an acre for 350 acres in the hill country. Thatís only $2500 a gun which is the cheapest Iíve heard of in the area not counting long time grandfathered in prices. We kill 8-10 deer a year plus turkey in spring. Fun place!

$850 for a 3000 acre SETX lease.
Guess at the prices I see that a Hill country or South Texas lease brings I’ll never be on one. That’s way too much money for me.

Yeah I'm still looking for those non-profit leases where the landowners just want to give away year round access to their land for free.

I completely understand if u leasing a HF place and great deer are on the ranch I know it takes lots to money to maintain great genetics but on a low fence ranch its pricey. I found 2 LF leases this year and both were over 9000.00 a gun I was in shock lol.

A friend and I both had 5k each and right now we **** in front of the TV to watch the hunting channel

Those are stupid prices for a LF place with average deer. For that you should be getting 1000 acres per gun and a reasonable chance at a book deer. Iíd like to know how the Land owner is justifying his prices other than ďIím charging that and some sucker will pay itĒ. Is a luxury ranch house included?

We have 2K acres in Stephens County, This is our 20th year on this lease. We are all from the same town and been buddies a long time. We pay $2000 a gun for year round access with water and electricity. 10 spots but 18,000 due to landowner the other 2k pays the electric and water. We also feed protein and have started to see the results and have a couple 150-160's.

I will also say this, we have accepted new hunters that are what I call trophy based hunters. Everything is about what they've been told or seen on TV. Those people lasted a couple years and got off or their lease was not renewed. It's not that they are in the wrong but to the rest of us our lease is so much more than that. Its about the camaraderie, and the time we spend together as one big family, helping each other out. We have an old fire pit in the center of camp and there's no telling how much wood has been burned in it, but I promise you this there's not a deer big enough that I would trade for my time around that fire pit.

Don't let anyone tell you how to spend your money. If its a place you think is worth it, lease it and enjoy it. Different people have different wants when it comes to leases, and some will never experience what other's do.

$1500 for a membership in East Texas. Big house, chow hall, water, electricity, TV and the works, but its only 7 miles from my driveway! Fingers crossed I will be getting on an excellent MLD place next season that will cost me another $1650 before initiation fees.
