I have an old L. C. Smith hammer gun with Damascus barrels. A little loose unbreached but locks up tight when it’s closed. I’ve thought about some sub-bore inserts but just never have done it since I don’t bird hunt anymore. It’s a field grade gun and nothing near as pretty as the OP’s.

Go to Society of American Side by Side Shotguns on Facebook. Most of the guys on there actually use their SxS's for hunting. Some very nice guns on there. I'm currently looking for a good deal on a 16 gauge SxS. The Stevens 311 model is a solid little gun but I would re-stock it with a straight stock.
Gunbroker has a bunch of 20's and several 28's but the 28's are pricey.

Cool! My younger one is a DHE as well. D grade, hammerhead, ejectors. The older one is a DH (no ejectors).

Shane I love your taste in shotguns!! My brother had my old LC Smith 12 with hammers when his home was broken into... It and a Model 12 20 ga. are the only 2 guns not recovered... I have a 20 ga. hammerless field grade LC Smith that my wife used to hunt with, but it's been a safe queen for many, many years now... May take it out on a quail hunt this year!! Age has a way of arousing our nostalgic feelings, and this thread sure has perked mine up a notch! Thanks for sharing such treasures!
