Not sure if the video will pull up but he was caught using the back of a machete and relocated, I think he might’ve use the wrong end of the machete though ??

Any theories on how it got there?

I am going to throw out that it was a stowaway on someone from deep east Texas.

I’ve seen a couple out in Eastland county

One in the 80’s, and another in the 90’s.

They are farther west than many might think.

Canebrakes/timberrattlesnakes are also found along the Brazos, Navidad, and Columbus water sheds.

I’m not saying they are not there but I have spent 15 years messing with snakes around Beaumont and have never seen one. I’ve also never seen a Coral snake around that area but doesn’t mean there are not there.

My thoughts are it had crawled up in someone's frame of their vehicle and took a ride from east Texas, then decided to crawl out in the parking lot.

                        Fron TP&W:
                        Distribution:
Timber rattlesnakes are found in upland woods and rocky ridges in the eastern United States; the eastern third of Texas.

Today, every state inhabited by timber rattlesnakes has laws protecting the species, including Texas. In Texas, it is listed as a threatened species. This means that people cannot take, transport, have in their possession or sell timber rattlesnakes.

Gary Saurage from Gator Country came out and picked it up One of the new stations did a little demo in the parking lot with him and the snake. His theory was that it hitched a ride from the Jasper area and fell out of the car body in the parking lot.

He’s taking it to his place and it will live its life out there.

I saw it on the news. I wonder how he knew it rode from Jasper? Lol. They are 15 minutes down the road in Sour Lake for sure. It coulda came from anywhere.

Yup. West and south. We have them in Jackson county. I’ve seen two over the years. Few and far between, but they are there.
