Heading out on a road trip to Alberta for a Moose and Elk
Hunt. First hunt in Canada and first time ever to hunt moose. I will up date when I can. Very excited for this opportunity. Will be a great trip no matter if I am successful or not.

Have a great trip. Be sure to hit the duty free as you drive into Alberta. They had Johnny Walker Blue for $125 a bottle

I snagged 4 bottles of Blantons while in Banff, and the day I left he had 6 more arriving.

I love Alberta! Bear hunted up there this May. Are you hunting with an outfitter?

Good luck, I did almost the same trip a couple years ago. Hunted just outside Jasper, never saw a moose (lots of sign and heard a few) and shot grouse almost every day for fresh meat.

Who are you hunting with and where?

Does hunting with a resident remove the outfitter requirement?

That's awesome, should be hunting just north of where we were. Beautiful country up there

I will be right behind as I fly to Calgary on the 13 and will be hunting Elk and Mule Deer through the 23rd. I will be based in southern Alberta (Claresholm is our base).

Weather is cooling down and buddy saw a bull chasing a cow yesterday evening outside Calgary in the bow zone.

Good luck good sir! Here's to hoping you get a chance to come full draw on a 50+ inch fully palmated monster!

PS - AIM LOW. Two other hunters last week shot high (believed to be double lung shots), with a TON of blood, and never found their moose after miles of tracking. Moose are by far way tougher than any elk I've seen. Everyone in Canada said a high shot, while fatal, on a moose means you're not going to find that moose 9 out of 10 times.

The beautiful foothills in eastern Wyoming this morning a great way to start the day. Weather forecast for those coming up to this area hot until Tuesday when a cold front supposed to come through and bring cooler weather.

I see now that you are driving into Canada. Depending on the crossing and the Canadian Customs things can get interesting when they find out you are from Texas. Just don't tell about the handguns you have under the seat

Quick lunch stop in Billings Montana. The trees are starting to change colors and look great. Just hard to take pictures and drive.

Hopefully the weather starts dropping for y'all. When I went two weeks ago, there was a significant difference in movement of the moose when it was 50 degrees as opposed to 60.

Made it into Canada stopping for the night. Saw lots of geese ducks
And cranes on the way in. Temps are supposed to be around freezing in the mornings and 50 during the day with snow flurries in Southern Alberta so it should be colder where we are going
