Default What are you thankful for today?

Take a few minutes...... Turn off the TV. Turn off social media. Forget about politics. Forget about your stresses and problems for a little while (we all have them, some worse than others from time to time).

What is God doing in your life right now that is a huge blessing and that you are truly thankful for?

I'm in that stage of life where we're watching our kids launch into adulthood on one hand, and we're caring for our aging parents on the other. Both processes come with plenty of stress and challenges. But I am so thankful that I am blessed with an awesome family to be doing all this crazy life stuff with. There's nothing better than family.

What are you especially thankful for today?

God is getting us ready for another boy in just a few week and I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a dad, again. Going to raise my boys right like my father did us.

Sounds like you are well rooted in your family sir, every time evil comes in and tries to get me thinking about how Iíve been wronged through my life, I look at where Iím at ,married later in life had 2 wonderful boys in my late 40ís. Now in my mid 50ís ,my only regret is Iím kinda beat up and canít do as much as Iíd like with my boys and wife. But I thank God everyday. I survived my career after 30 yrs.

Congrats HH, that's a good thing to look forward to. Bless you !

I guess I'm most thankful that my kids have never had drug or drinking problems and for the most part, they're healthy, and that I'm married to the best woman in the world for 36 years now. Everything else is minor.....

I’m thankful for my beautiful wife and 19 year old son. He graduated in the spring and is already well on his way to being a civil servant. Fireman/paramedic has always been his dream. School is well underway and he seems to be surviving. The Lord has definitely blessed us.

You and I are on the same page Shane. Amid the stress we all deal with - internal stress, and the external stress of modern life, I often forget how blessed I am. To answer your question I have my health, a loving wife of 31years and two grown sons who are fine young men. I can’t say I have done anything to deserve all this - there are countless better people than me who have much less.

I have far more than I deserve, that's for sure. I miss the stress of my dad growing old, and my mom having Alzheimer's. I know that sounds terrible, but once they both passed, and the subsequent stress dissipated, I missed them terribly. I miss them nearly every day.

But I am thankful to have had my mom and dad as long as I did. I am thankful for all they taught me. I am thankful for the wonderful memories they left me with.

I am thankful that my boy is so independent, and so successful.

I am thankful that my wife of 30.5 years still thinks I am pretty cool. Looking forward to my next 30.5 years with her.

Good stuff, y'all.

It's always good for me to pause and reflect on the blessings in my own life. It's equally good to hear about other people's blessings. It's a refreshing change of pace from much of the conversation and noise we're bombarded with these days. It's also a reminder to me of how much God loves us.

Many, many things.
For the prayers, the support, the love, the help with some things that
I've been unable to do for myself that I've received since I've entered into
my little war with cancer. My family and my friends have rallied around me.

For the overall good prognosis relative to what it could have been. Grateful
for my primary care physician that insisted that I should have an endoscopy,
as a precautionary measure while indicators pointed toward simple acid reflux.
Hence early detection and I believe God had a hand in that. The tumor is localized
at the junction of my esophagus and my stomach. CT scan, PET scan,
ultrasound endoscopy... no traces of cancer elsewhere, lymph nodes, no place...
For the team of doctors that my PCP has assembled for the endeavor.

I'm hooked to a chemo pump right now as I type this reply and I will be
until Thursday - my second round of chemotherapy with a particularly
aggressive strain of chemo. But yet, so far I've suffered very little from
side effects - they could begin at any time, but so far, so good. I will mention
that I have and will continue to keep nausea at bay with some special "edibles"
and I'm maintaining an appetite... a little help from a friend.
Surgery will follow chemo, then perhaps more chemotherapy post-surgery.
There will be no radiation, the surgery will be more of a gastric surgery than an
esophageal surgery - and I'm beyond grateful that I'm being spared radiation.

I'm so thankful that I've lived almost 72 years with never any health problems until now.
Never a broken bone, never a day in a hospital, never anything more serious than a cold or
a mild case of the flu...
Something had to come along sooner or later, there are no exceptions,
and it is simply that I've reached the head of the line, it's my turn.

God is in charge, but I'm doing my part - it's my belief that He expects us to.
And my part is to determine and control my attitude, to remain positive, to
listen to Him and to my medical team, to fight... and to let the people that love
me know just how much I love, need and appreciate them.

I didn't really mean to say all I just said when I began, I would have made
this reply message shorter, but I didn't how.

My wife has suffered with a broken arm for 13 days. After 3 Dr. opinions and struggling with her insurance company to find a surgeon and a surgery center in her network she had surgery this morning. We have prayed and prayed about this. We feel blessed to have received this outcome. I think she is on the road to recovery.

Dad is 85 and I drove the 12 hour trip over the first week of July because he is not going to be here forever. Mom passed 17 years ago and I truly miss her.

Oldest son is 30 and has his life together with a house and a flats boat he loves.

Daughter is 20 and is great with kids and was working at the church daycare. Back problems right now but she will power thru it.

Youngest is my 14 year old hero. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 12. Almost lost him due to no history in the family and the symptoms came on really fast. He laid in the pediatric ICU and looked at us and said "it could be worse, I could have cancer". Brought tears to my eyes. He has it figured out now with our help.

I am 56 now and debated having my youngest at the time but it was the best decision I have ever made. He is my Superman. His name is Hunter.

Good topic Shane,
I am thankful for most everything in my family's life, except mosquitoes and fire ants.
They can both go away as far as I am concerned.
Other than that everything is great.

Also, one of the things I am Most thankful for is being born right here in Texas, USA.

Thankful for waking up every day. Thankful for the Google lord sending my wife of 25 years to me at a bad time in my life. If not for her I would not be on this earth today. First of all thankful for my Salvation I received Aug the 5th of 2003
So thankful for God’s blessings..
years ago drugs and alcohol cost me a 28 year marriage.
At the 20 year point God saved me.. I tried the next 8 years to repair a marriage that I tore up.
Divorcť is a terrible thing.. I left with head down low, with my tools guns and cloths ..
And a 138 k in dept. the last note was to mature in June of 2020. I paid it off over 8 months ago.
Rita and I both started over late in life with Nothing from our former life’s .
We were able to purchase a small modest condo.
I told Rita of my dream of owning my own business.. this women looked at me and said I believe in you!!
I paid all bills 1 month ahead including the condo note.. and I quite my job.. and started Stonewall auto.
That was 6 years ago
I’m modest in saying it grossed over 600k last year, and now have 4 trucks on the road..
I’m thankful most of all for a supportive loving wife that encourages me daily..
Here’s a question for all of y’all

How would it affect you if tomorrow you woke up with nothing but what you thanked GOD for today?

I was born in America. Every day I am grateful for that.

Mike Rowe has a podcast where he talks about the first time Mikhail Gorbachev (If I remember right) came to the USA. His envoy took him to a grocery store. He walked in, saw all our fresh fruits and vegetables, all that looked like they had been picked that day, sitting for ANYONE to purchase. He saw all of our shelf stable for years pea's, and bean's, and corn, sitting on shelves. He said he instantly knew communism had lost.

That right there is how I know I am blessed to have been born here.

So grateful for God's grace and my savior, Jesus. I know without him I would get what I deserve.
He has provided so much in my life I know came directly from His blessings as there was no way those things could have come together for me except by His divine intervention. Each day is a gift and I'm going to be glad and rejoice in it. Then on that day when He calls me home I'm going to really rejoice.

Bob, you hang in there and stay positive. God loves you and has a plan for your life.

First off thanks Shane for the reminder to be thankful. I too am at that similar stage of life and lately the stress has tried to overwhelm me but reading posts on this thread is a real encouragement and reminder to keep my focus on the one who created me,knows me, loves me, desires every good thing for me and not on the lies the enemy tries to tell me.

In short... Iím thankful for his peace that passes understanding.

I've got a lot to be thankful for! This was my world a year ago today due to Hurricane Harvey and the San Jacinto river!

My family is safe and we have been blessed beyond belief in the last year! We recently moved back into our house and my mom and dad will be in theirs in the next week! There are countless friends and strangers that helped us this last year. To say that I am thankful for what God and those people have done for us is an understatement! I wish i had the words....

God has blessed my wife and I with our first child after a year of trying and thinking it wasn't going to happen for us. We welcome our son into this world sometime around the new year and cannot be more excited.

Iím thankful for 18 packs because sometimes 12 is not enough.

Iím thankful women are responsible for child birth, because sometimes I have troubles with a bowel movement.

So many blessings in all our lives!

The good definitely outweighs the bad, huh? Why do we get so hung up on the negative sometimes? Focus on the blessings. See the good in people. Share God's love and mercy with somebody every day. Make your little corner of the world a little bit better whenever you can. Small things are HUGE. Never take the blessings for granted.

I thank him everyday for my health, my job, and a roof over my head.
