Default Which Rifle should I buy.

Ok so I’m trying to decide what to buy. All are 6.5cm and will be a pack around huntin rifle. I’m not a bench shooter or really have no need to but may do it for fun. Want to be able to shoot out 5-600yards when/if I have to.

Browning Hells Canyon (not the new version bench gun)
Bergara B-14 HMR
Or Remmy 700 5-R Gen II.

I like longer barreled guns but the feel of the Bergara is great to me too.

Thoughts or other suggestions please.

No experience, but have heard good things about the Bergara's. Will most likely be my next rifle.

Look at the Ruger American Predator. Lightweight, well balanced, good trigger, very accurate and you don't have to baby it as it is reasonably priced. I would stay away from the Remingtons at this time.
Adios,
Gary

Don’t you need a 26” barrel to get the most out of a 6.5? Don’t own one or know anyone that does but IMHO that would take the bergara out unless it comes with full length barrel

Why all the hate for the Remington’s right now? Bergara makes a heck of a rifle, and Brownings reputation is well established, but my 2014 700 in .308WIN, redressed from the ground up with a Vortex Viper PST gets me under 1/2MOA. Shot out to 500.

Bergara is a good value.

Every Browning Rifle I have had has shot one hole groups.

Remington is my least favorite of the 3. At least these days.

Adios,
Gary
I just sold a Ruger American in 6.5cm. I agree they are good guns but not what I want. I don't care for the cheap stocks they have on them. I have heard so many mixed opinions on Remingtons that I m scared to even think about but this Gen 2 5-R is supposed to be very good.

I just bought a Browning X-Bolt except the Medallion Version in .30-06. It is super accurate with factory Remington and Winchester Ammo. (3/4 MOA) I haven't shot it a lot, but it will definitely become my primary hunting rifle this fall.

I have two hells canyon long range rifles, not the lines with the McMillan stock just has a little bit heavier barrel profile than the speed model...both are far better shooters than I am and they are really set up to be take anywhere rifles. Don’t have the 6.5 yet!!

Iíd get the x bolt if it was me. Trigger is fantastic on those guns, well engineered stock, already cerakoted and threaded. All are fine guns, just my choice

My 6.5 has a 22Ē Barrel and shoots the 140ís about 2650 and the 124ís 2900 with 41.5 and 44.5 grains of H4350 respectively. Not sure how much more a longer barrel would gain you especially in a hunting rifle, maybe an extra 25-50fps. Not worth it for a 600 yard and in hunting rifle.

Yeah . . . 700 5R no question.

Iíve seen a stock 5R (308) shoot a 3 inch group at 1000 yards. You read that right, 3 inches at 1000.

Pack around hunting rifle and a heavy barrel 5r don’t seem to go together.
Pack around to me sounds more like a sporter barrel rifle. But if you’re sold on 5r Remington makes an AWR now that sporter size but has a 5r barreling and a grayboe stock

The Bergara is a sweet gun. I found an old remington action and had a 257 WBY Mag built last year. Shot it out to 350 with no problems. I know it would do good out further but I was limited to 350. I plan on taking it out to 600 in a couple weeks just to play.

I wish I would have gotten on the AP deal earlier this year, I would have got the 6.5

Xbolt. Have the stalker version in 30-06 and it's an all around great gun. My first two shots out of the gun plugged the same hole. Couldn't believe it with cheap factory ammo.

No.

I have a Bergara LRP Elite that will shoot .3x @300 and .5/6 @600 in 6.5 with a 24 inch barrel. It does not shot as well as my full customs but for the price I have not seen anything shoot better.

out of those 3 my vote would be the Rem 5r. I've personally seen them shoot absolutely amazing. I'm talking one hole 5shot groups at 200 yards.

Although I'd throw the savage 10 predator max 1 in the mix. I just got one for my birthday and it shoots amazing as well.

This

I owned a Hell's Canyon in 300wm... I did not like the trigger at all and the muzzle is threaded Metric so if you ever wanted to suppress it you would likely have to find an adaptor that fits.

My new Bergara HMR in 7mm Rem Mag will be here tomorrow. I bought the first one they let go.

how far will you pack the gun ?/ I love my Christian arms modern rifle light weight lights out accurate , stock folds up to become even smaller to pack . I have a bergara as well but its still gets over looked 99% of the time the new christian is my go to in 6.5 for sure . and the stock is rock solid ZERO movement what so ever

I've got several Browning's...2 X bolt's and an A bolt. All shoot very well with factory ammo
I prefer the X bolts and now Timney has a trigger for them or you can just replace the trigger spring.
Also have a 5r Milspec 308 that will pretty much shoot any ammo I feed it under an inch and ammo that it likes around 1/4"....just as accurate as my APR custom.

Six Five Creedmooooooar? Well that's one way to come out of the closet!

If you need one right now, I have seen HMRs for as low as $830 shipped.

If you can wait, personally I would squirrel the money away and see if LaRue released the Siete in 6.5 CM.
