Hunting Scope for APR Build

I would save a little coin and go with the VX-5HD 3-15 CDS. That scope impresses me more and more every time I use it.

I don’t think you’ll regret it. I have a VX-6 (non HD) and the 5 is a better scope.

You will be happy with either but the glass on the Swarovski really is in a different league.

Does the VX5-HD and VX6-HD have the same glass? Is the only difference the 5x versus 6x zoom?

Same glass and correct on zoom being the only difference.

If you can swing the Swarovski get it. The VX6HD is good, but the Swarovski is phenomenal.

It could be that they purchased discontinued stock from Leupold. If they have any its a good deal though.

Any difference in glass on the Swaro Z5, Z6 & Z6i?

From what I researched I don't think there is. Main differences I found is Z5 is 1' tube, Z6 is 30mm and the Z6i is illuminated reticle.

Referring to zoom ratio. A 4-12 has a 3x zoom ratio (3x4=12), 4-20 has a 5x zoom ratio, etc.

5x refers to a 5 variable zoom so a 2-10 or a 3-15
6x is 3-18 or 4-24

Im not sure what you are asking but 5x vs 6x is referring the the amount of magnification adjustment.

For example the VX5 adjust from 3-15 so 5x adjustment from low to high.

VX6 adjusts from 3-18 so 6x adjustment range.

Gotcha, I was not sure what the difference was. Just thought it was different models.

Back up. Still have the vx5 hd as a front runner. The more I read about the CDS the more I like it
