    Elk cow vs. Nilgai cow

    Which typically would weigh more?

    Which meat do you prefer?

How much should I expect to pay to shoot one?

    Thank you.

Elk cow is under $400 for out of state in Colo.

Nilgai starts at $1,000 in Texas.

Nilgai is some good eating but elk isn’t anything to turn your nose up at.

I prefer nilgai over elk, but I think it's just personal preference. They're both great eating.

There may still be a few viable options from this thread

I’ve been told by some that nilgai is better, just all personal preference i guess. I’ve never had elk so I can’t compare the two myself.

I was raised with elk on the dinner plate and started hunting them myself in '86. Only started hunting nilgai in '07 and every year since on several of the "K" ranches and surrounding properties.

Elk and nilgai are each different to my taste, but both are my favorites over deer and other game. Elk steaks and roast are fantastic. And both are great as a ground beef substitute in recipes.

My overall list of preference is elk, nilgai, mule deer, and then any other deer.

OK. Now, which one typically weighs more? Looking for the best freezer filling deal.

                          Thanks
