    Tripod/Monopod suggestions needed.

I have an old tripod that is very sturdy and reliable yet still semi light weight. I also have a nice monopod with a fully adjustable head unit with a level will let me go 90 degrees etc... as well have quick release base for the camera.

What I'm looking for is a Tripod and a Monopod where I can use the same quick release base between the two. Doesn't do me much good to have one with a quick release and the other not as I have to unscrew the base plate anyways.

At the same time I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars either LOL.

Any suggestions? Website links are always welcome

Get some good Manfrotto legs and this head:
        Manfrotto 804RC2

Then, get a good Manfrotto monopod with this head:
        Manfrotto RC2

B&H has some excellent "kits" that give you all of what you need. Try this one for a tripod:

This is a decent monopod setup:

Just remember, you can have the following features in a tripod:
        Cheap
        Light
        Sturdy

Unfortunately, you can only choose two of those.

Looks like the maker, DynaTran, of my current monopod has an option for me, just got off the phone with them. The only problem I see with this set is the tripod weighs in a 8 lbs but the monopod comes in at a mere 2.5 lbs, but they all use the same base plate which is good...hmmmm

I use the Manfrotto pistol grip head for both my monopod and tripod when I use them. I simply screws on to either one in second. It is basically a pistol grip sitting on a ball head and you squeeze the pistol grip and rotate the camera to any angle you want. It works great!

I've got the Bogen tripod 055XPROB,Bogen monopod 681B and Bogen head 322RC2 Grip Action. I use them with a Canon 50D with a grip and I really like them.

I got the Sunpak 7500TM. It is a tripod with a built in monopod. Its pretty heavy duty and comes with two QD plates. I like mine.
