So we are here on a vacation trip/visiting family. But the sitting inside and visiting is driving me insane because I'm not one to sit around all day. Any recommendations on things to do or maybe some fishing spots to hit up?

Drive over to Gulf Shores and/or a little further east into Pensacola. Nice little beach eats and probably a good amount of charters (inshore/offshore) if you've got a little cash.

Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. Lots of beach stuff. Gulf State Park, between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, has a nice lake to fish. Can catch bass and redfish on back to back casts. With kids....Go eat at Lambert’s in Foley(home of the throwed roll), OWA amusement park in Foley, The Wharf in Orange Beach, The Hangout In Gulf Shores. Just talked with my parents who have a condo in Orange Beach...Blue Angels just flew by their window. They often train along beach.

Believe it or not but the national spear hunter museum is on Foley highway. Its actually pretty cool.

I also recommend a bushwacker from florabama.

If you play golf, the Robert Trent Jones golf trail (RTJ). Courses in Mobile and Point Clear. www.rtjgolf.com
You might find a connection at the pro shop of the Point Clear Location for fishing. That course operates as part of the Grand Hotel which is located over the bay from Mobile.

Bluegill Restaurant or Felixís Restaurant on the Causeway. Battleship Alabama and the USS Drum on the Causeway. Wintzellís Restaurant Downtown. Might be able to get a fishing charter at one of those.

University of South Alabama operates a Sea Lab Educational facility on the Causeway somewhere, Iím just not sure where.

Fairhope is a nice town for shopping. Town is the way it use to be back in the '50's. Very nice folks there. Also good golf and fishing. It is on the east side of Mobile Bay. Probably get some charter advise at the dock in Fairhope or at BPS on I-10 just north of Fairhope.

I picked up and rod and headed to the beach. Caught my first sting ray although I didnt have enough hands for a picture. Also a fun fact in alabama you can buy your fishing license over the phone!
