Canada seems to be the only ones protecting them.

I caught two off Prince Edward Island. Fun to catch. It's like pulling in a car LOL

That's the Japanese version of "if its brown its down" ha! Those fish are worth so much money to the Japanese they have depleted the species by 96 percent. They need to put Antler Restrictions on em

From $5 to $14 a lb, according to that show about Tuna fisherman

12,000.00 +/-

purely speculation on my part though

I've seen them go for $24/lb if the market is right and the quality of the fish is top shelf.

Edit, just looked up Japanese Wholesale for Bluefin Tuna:

Fresh - 20,500 Yen/kg = $81,000 USD!
Import- 5,500 Yen/Kg = $18,000 USD!

I'm sure there are Japanese Wholesalers in Houma that would buy it as fresh and overnight it to Japan.

Professional Sportsfishing /Billfishing people are multi-millionaires spending rediculous amounts of money on their passion / hobby. I doubt they're worried about selling a $15-20K fish. If I had to guess, that tuna will be eaten and respected by the Capt and deckhands

Off LA waters you can only harvest 1 BFT per year, as its strictly regulated and enforced by the wildlife and fisheries

Yep. Those dudes consistently catch fish. Especially Kaleb. Over the last two years, he has caught more blue marlin than any other junior angler. Awosme tuna!

That boy is always on the fish!

My little brother went to school with Kaleb and was fortunate to go on Who Dat a couple times. A couple years back when they were around 10 years old they invited my dad and brother to the Bahamas to fish for a few days. I don't think my dad even caught a fish that trip. Only Kaleb and my brother did the fishing. My brother also went on a trip out of grand isle with them and caught a 500 pound marlin. Will try to get a picture up.

Ascension Episcopal ??

FYI - that was confirmed to be a female tuna, approximately 15-years old.

I live in Youngsville and pass in front of Keith's shop/business all the time
