I recently heard about about draw hunts. Can someone explain this to me?

Back when I was in high school, the teacher would give us a book to read over the weekend. Come Monday, we would be required to give a report on the book. Without fail, one of my buddies would say to me, "Did you read the book? Tell me about it so I can do the report."

Did we go to high school together?
