Bipod - mat with lip to push slightly against. Bag in the rear - use my fist of off shooting hand on the bag to support under the buttstock/grip on my stock.

I recently got a bunny ear rear bag and a 9-13" Harris Bipod.
I haven't used either, but my son has used the bag. Got the bag first.

GOOD bipod. Atlas or Evo. I'm running an Evo currently and have an atlas around somewhere. Harris is good if you don't want to spend a lot. Then I use a Caldwell rear bag from a $25 prefilled set from academy. They work just fine. Sometimes I don't use a bag at all

We were using a clothes bag for a front rest.
Highly adjustable but doesn't stay firm.

The rear bag can be seen in the pic.

Harris/LaRue combo bipod & a cheap Caldwell rear bag. Wanting to get a Triad rear large wedgie but they're never in stock.

              Rugged Ridge

              And chunk the rear bags.

I looked at those Swaggers. You talk about one ugly gaudy hunk of mess.

I like and use Sinclair's. Very stable and track well. Use a couple of different rear bags and matts.

That looks a little too much to pack on a hunt.

I'd love to have that rugged ridge but just don't shoot prone outside of the range that often. I'm using Harris bipod with a leather rabbit ear bag on the range

I made my longest shot on an animal last week from the prone position taking this Javi at 493 yards on the Chaparral. I was actually carrying a 17-23 inch bipod made for the seated position as I had been calling for yotes. As luck would have it, the group of Javi were down hill and I found a small hole to rest the bipod in making it work in the prone position. Using my pack as a rear support I had near bench rest stability and sent the 75 grain Amax to its intended target...DRT.

They have extended legs for it.

I forgot one key component to my comments about not using them that often...$$$$. I've handled one and they're extremely well built but the sticker shock...

That's SWEET!! Might just have to get me one of those. Thanks for posting them!! You're SO right about those Swaggers! Lol! Ugly as sin!

OP: Here's a pretty good little article and video about choosing a tripod for the particular use you intend to use it for: http://www.snipershide.com/snipers-h...osing-a-bipod/
