String issues on cheap trad bow?

My 10 year old daughter has a cheap recurve off of amazon. It generally works well enough, but we do have one persistant problem... The arrow nocks won't click onto the string to hold the arrow in place. The same nocks work on my bow string and my oldesr daughters too. It's like the string is smaller is diameter or something.

Is there a way to fix this without buying a new string? We have tried a few different nocks with no success.

Wrap & tie dental floss over the area where the nock clips on.
Wrap & tie to suit your preference of nock fit.

You can carefully bite on the nock to close some also.

I've done the floss one even for my expensive strings. Those Bohning nocks on my woodies are too wide for almost all my strings. Good thing Mr. Green hooked me with string building classes and now I just need to get off my butt and order some material and get twisting!
