    Brother's Colorado Mountain Goat

My brother shot this mountain goat last week in Colorado. It was a very tough tag to draw and he was just a few non-residents to get drawn. The goat is a Nanny and measured @ 8.5" and was 4 years old. He shot the goat the first day of the hunt @ 30 yards. He had seen some billies right before he shot this one, but they went a different direction. He was by himself and did all the packing on foot. He spent the next two days cleaning and packing out the cape, meat, & camp. He was 6 miles from the trailhead where he came in at and the pack out took three trips. The picture of the train is what he took to the trailhead which left out of Durango. Apparently, this is common for hunters & hikers to do this and Bivy Hunt.

My brother got in great physical condition for this hunt and his earlier bighorn sheep hunt. I would have love to have gone with him, but i don't think i could have made it with the shape I am in. I have started to get preference points and hopefully will be lucky enough to get drawn some day.

That is just awesome. I cant imagine packing in and out for six miles on that type of terrain.

That is awesome! What a great DIY hunt!

How do you tell the difference between a billy and a nanny at 30 or 100 yards?
