    Covered Deck Build

Finished this build this past weekend.

Really wished I had done this a long time ago!!

This will help keep the cabin cool when its sunny, keep us dry, and it doubles my rain catching ability.

Attached is the before, middle, and finished product.

    The covered portion is 12X24.

If my calculations are correct about 3/4 of an inch of rain will fill my 285 gallon tank.

Southern Real county, Not sure how many gallons I catch a year but I can tell you I have never run out of water since the gutters were installed in May of 2012. I have a 285 gallon catch tank and a 285 gallon hold tank.

Correct, i haven't had to bring water to the cabin for taking showers or doing dishes etc since 2012.

1in of rain equals like 5.61 gallons of water.

Dang that looks good! What a view as well.

For your rain catching, use this formula:
Amount of catching area (sq. ft.) x amount of rain (inches) x .623
                            12x24 area = 288(sq ft) x 1(inch rain) x .623= 179.424 gallons captured per inch of rain

                              That's cool there.

This is now high on the list.
