Because they’re very illegal to kill. I believe they’re listed as either endangered or threatened. I have yet to see one in the wild. Would love to though.
I had Bob Morrison ( bows) apply real skins ( timber rattler, cane brake) to a bow I purchased from him. He does an absaultly fantastic job of applying them also.
In Texas, having "timber rattler", or "eastern diamondback" skins in any form other than fake can cause you some serious trouble.
It does not matter how you got them, who you got them from, or in what form you are using/displaying them. Being in possession of them is all it takes to be breaking the law.
You might go forever, and never have a problem, OR you might have that one time when you get hammered for it with a very big hammer.

Saw two in one day a couple of weeks ago. Kill one in oklahoma. Was told by OKRATTLER that they’re protected in Texas, but not in Oklahoma.
