My guess is Spartan has a Minimum Advertised Price for their dealers and in order to advertise them below that they offer them as "open box" specials. I have 2 Spartans and have no complaints. Sold all my Coverts after trying one.

This fella is a friend of the owner of Spartan. He's helping them sell these cameras. I think he told me they are 2015 models but don't quote me on that. I've had an issue with one of them out of the box...I sent it in and had a replacement camera in a week. Just be sure to hold onto your receipt because spartan requires that for any warranty work. I contacted Herd360 when I had the issue and he told me to just send it back to Spartan and follow their warranty/replace procedures and if there were any issues getting it replaced, to contact him and he'd go straight to the top. That's great piece of mind. These are new in the box cameras. I'm not sure why they advertise as "open box". I've had three of them for a couple months at least and they are working just fine.
