Got on a new, smaller, but closer lease. Been doing the normal setup work, etc. Got another chance to go out this weekend and my son was able to shoot a hog. The search boogered it up for the weekend, but we did find it... and I was afforded an opprotunity to finally tag one of these.

He walked right next to our popup and down my narrow shooting lane from under my window.

Checked that box!

First coon with a trad bow and first kill on the new place.

Finally got another turkey! There’s the term “caught with your pants down” but this morning I was caught with my shirt off. I had actually just taken my thermal top off and was fixing to put my T-shirt back on when I saw him running in from about 100 yards away. So I had to scramble and get my shirt back on and my mask, then had to put my glove back on and grab my bow before he got too close. He never even gobbled so he really caught me offguard

Got about a 45-lber on the DRT-organized Trad Group Hunt at Three Fingers Bowhunting in Fairfield, Tx.

Shot him quartering-to at about 14 yards with my Jay Weathers recurve -- 70 lbs, using a 680-grain Warrior carbon and 300-grain Tuffhead single bevel broadhead.

Trapped a coon and dispatched with my recurve and 175 gr simmons tigersharks (versus the normal dispatch method of the Western Field bolt rifle 22lr).

Hopefully Bisch approves.(...of the paint job)

Those coons provided me with plenty of running money in high school and college. They can eat all of my corn they want.

Had some good luck on our Trad Group Hunt (see separate thread for full story) up at Three Fingers Bowhunting in Fairfield, Tx.

Got a 238-lb hog this morning with my 70-lb Jay Weathers recurve, shooting 680-grain Warrior carbon arrow with a 300-grain Tuffhead single bevel broadhead. Shot was at 15 yards shooting at a downward angle, hard quartering away. Broadhead went through the "shield" and penetrated 12 inches into lungs and (likely) heart. Lots of blood to trail on the 150-yard track to find a dead hog in the creek bottom.

Will add pics with Tapatalk phone edit.

Haven't had the trad bow out in quite sometime, made a run tonight and arrowed 2 big hogs. Found the sow, but lost blood on the boar. He's a good un too! Maybe I'll find him tomorrow. Anyhow, congrats to all and God bless!

Ya got me there Bisch! Have been “keeping up” everyday, just not posting much. I guess mainly cuz I haven’t been able to shoot hardly AT ALL! To the tune of only a couple of times since late Dec. Still probs with the shoulder(s)... yeah, now the other one too! Anyway, it’ll all iron out, and thanks for asking! And also still mad atcha for not hollering at me to “have lunch” when you came to Hopkins County! Just jackin with ya! Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

FWIW, Miller vouched for ya being a good ol boy... I asked him “you sure we’re talking bout the same guy?! Ok, Trad Harvest thread can resume now... Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

This is my first kill with the recurve. Stalked in to 10-15 yards and recovered her 40 yards away. Loving the stick and string.
