The fillet knife is at least 12" below the fish, it's a play on the eyes... just like holding a snake on a 4' pole.

                5 gallon crappie

Standard 5 gal bucket is 14.5” tall. I’ll guess 15.5” on length. No idea on weight.

                Man I LOVE big crappie!

We caught a few this past Sunday. I measured this one right at 16”.

Top one is the 16”. Middle two are 13”. Bottom is 14”.

                      Record crappie on Texoma
                      White Crappie: 3.23lb and 15.5"
                      Black Crappie: 2.93lb and 16.88"

If it wasn't full of eggs, I would guess 2ish pounds. Used to guide Crappie on Richland Chambers.

                        5 gallon crappie

Ive never held any of mine up to a bucket so it's hard for me to get a size reference but it's probably 2.25 to 2.4 if I had to guess.

                        Here's a 2.40 for reference. And my kid holding a 2.60.

Wow what a slab. I met two guys from the Colinsville? area the other day crappie fishing a creek off Texoma; Jerry and Mack; small world! Now that I remember I think they said Gordonville!

Great fish! The older I get the more I love crappie fishing. After decades of chasing bucket mouths I've transitioned and catching one like that would be the equivalent of catching a 10lb+ bass.

There really not that rare. We normally catch quite a few like that every season.
