Just leave the 9' ceiling and then come back and wrap the metal beams in wood and have exposed beams... Maybe..

Sorry folks, little late on updating the thread. So I lost much sleep over what to do here. After speaking with a few engineers, and further supporting those 12" I beams, I decided to let them notch the beams. They welded a long 8" beam on top, then welded some plate to the area that was notched. He is then going to come back and run 2x12s paired across those I beams to further support them. Everyone seemed content with this fix, and I quite honestly was just ready to get moving on the project.

Saturday was a big work day. The ol man and I were going to be framing the exterior walls, and the sub was going to be sticking windows in and putting the skin on the outside. We were to be dried in at the end of the day. In typical fashion, when they got to the first window, they realized the wrong trim was ordered, and couldn't finish. What's new there.

We got all the exterior walls up, then started on interior walls Sunday. It pours rain every time we just think about working on the house. If the rain does indeed cease, we are going to hit it again Saturday. Maybe then, almost 3 months into this, I'll have a ***** metal building dried in. Then likely starts the tussle of what is owed for completion of the project. I'm ready for that argument.

So with the wedding and honeymoon upon us, we had to step away from this project for a little. Before doing so, I had another sit down meeting with the builder. Told him that I have everything documented from start to current status on the house, and that there was no way in h#ll that I was going to pay the full remaining balance on the expired contract and for that cut up, out of plum, excuse for a metal building. He nodded and said I understand, so we will see. The building is finally dried in, and all we are waiting on now is for him to finish the front porch. He can take as long as he wants to now on full completion, as I can move forward with my work. Im not paying a dime until it is 100% complete and to my satisfaction.

I have to switch gears to the campaign now, as election day is May 24th. After that, it will be 100% busting arse on the house. All we have left is the ceiling work, then moving to plumbing, electrical, and AC. I cannot wait to get moved in. Anyways, here is a pic of the front:

Alright guys, sorry for going MIA on yall. I was kind of put out by this whole process, plus the fact that it was raining every day and I couldn't get anything done on the house. With the break in rain, Im back at it. Finally got a road in to my place. Took the day off and borrowed a skidsteer from a buddy. Ill need one more load to finish it, but at least I can get in and out of the place. After getting the road in, I was able to move a travel trailer out there. This has been great so far, as I can work on the house every afternoon till dark. Since I am so far behind on the build, I subbed out the top end plumbing. Was a big, tough expense, but it was done in 3 days as opposed to me taking several weeks. I started wiring the house as soon as he finished, and should be done in 1-2 more days. Ill have my electrician buddy help me tie it all in at the box, and make sure I didnt make a goof on anything. I purchased my AC unit and air handler last weekend, and my AC buddy made it out Saturday to help a little. We got the handler in the attic, and the copper tubing lined out. He's going to finish making the ducts, then we'll set those and the unit. I sure hope to have the AC and wiring done by this weekend. I'll then be able to give our spray insulation guy the green lights, and start lining out a drywall guy. Also, we have a guy building us some custom pecan cabinets. He will be starting within the next day or so, and should have them ready soon after drywall is done. Things are finally starting to look up!

If everything goes as planned, Ill be 5k over budget. I can certainly live with that.

Picture update coming. Walls are painted. Showers/bath tile almost complete. Custom pecan cabinets will start to install by the end of the week. Tile has been bought (wood flooring look) and well begin being laid within the next 2 weeks. Trim will be cut out of pine wood and stained. Finally starting to really come together!
