Default Texans 1st Round Pick?

So now that there are no quality free agent QB's available, who do you think will be Houston's first pick next week? QB, OT, LB?

I really feel like they will take Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson if either are available. If they aren't, I see them going OT (Cam Robinson?) in 1st round and picking up a QB like Peterson or Webb in the 2nd.

Doesn't matter who the QB is if they don't fix their OL issues.

Jay Cutler not available????

Pat Mahomes is a poor mans Dak Prescott so he should work just fine in the Texans organization.

They go OT and get cam Robinson

May be able to get mahomes with their second. Wouldn't surprise me if they traded up to the front of the second to select him though. If watsons available at the end of round 1 bet they trade up to pick 33.

Doesn't matter who the quarterback is without an offensive line.

Some people can never grasp the concept that Football is a Team sport.
Including the owners.

They better go O-line with that pick. I dont think the talent is there to go QB first round (assuming Watson & Trubby are gone). Beef up that O-line, make do this year, then push hard for a QB next year.

You can get a 1st round QB for 4 years and option him for less money than what Osweiler got from just his guarantee.
If that QB don't work out draft one until they do.

More than likely they will go OT.

I don't see anyway around that outside of Watson or Mahomes dropping to them or at least close enough to move up a few spots to get them. Both of these QB's are projected to go well before the Texans would even have a chance. Never say never though. It's happened before.

Mahomes is far from a 1st round prospect. He is just another TT qb product. Which is not a bad thing. Just not a NFL type past. Better get Robinson! That dude will be an All Pro for several years if he can stay healthy.

I lost hope for the Texans pretty sure they are too stupid for their own good lol but I believe they need to go for a top tier OL and see how savage plays out this year.

Have to disagree here. I have watched a lot of TT football over the years and Mahomes is far from those TT QBs of the past. He isnt a year one starter but I think he is going to do good things in the NFL. The Texans need to shore up the OL and roll with Savage this year. IMO.

What really has me confused about the Oswieller trade was they gave up a second round pick to do it. Yet they havent done anything with the freed up cap dollars. If they arent going to use those dollars, they should have just cut him and kept the second round pick. Maybe those dollars are earmarked for a new contract for Hopkins, idk.

Because that has worked out well for the Browns the last however many years that they have been drafting QB's.

O Line all the way. Build that up and Savage should be enough to win some games. With the Texans D and the firepower they have on offense, we just need a QB that can hit open receivers and not make stupid plays. the rest can work itself out.

I think they were hoping for some type of deal for Romo but nothing ever panned out how we wanted.

OL.
I don't care who the QB is. Without a decent OL he will get murdered.

Dak fell into a nice situation with a good OL.
Put him in Houston and it would not have been the same.

Not a glamorous pick. But, go best OL.

If i'm not mistaken, wasn't the second round pick that was dealt with Osweiler for the 2018 draft not this years?

Build O line and use some picks to trade Bill O'Brien seriously can't stand the guy. I don't think hes really up to snuff coaching offensively with the team we have. I've said it a couple times, watched great drives ruined by a bad call by O'Brien with a "cutesy-gotcha" play that requires everything to go just rght or the plays blown up.

For real though, O-line. Lamar Miller was able to show hes a great RB when he gets some blocks. Just like most QBs will do okay when theyre not being sacked.

I just don't want to see any more Brown's QBs. One of the incentives ti move from Ohio was watching the Texans who SHOULD be better. So far i just see rotation of guys from Cleveland to here.

I am a died in the wool Aggie, but Mahomes is heads and shoulders above any QB to come out of TT. His arm strength is amazing and his athletic ability will help him tremendously. This kid is an great athlete.

I all honesty hope we can get him 1st round and draft OL 2nd. Derek Newton was hurt majority of last year not says no he would make a huge difference but definitely make a difference

Salary cap space to sign nuke. Maybe clowney later. I thought they would bring in more o-line. I'm also not sure what free agency looks like next year for the league. Maybe they have their eye on someone. Jimmy G?

That cap space doesnt carry over. They have to use it this year or lose it.

The only problem with waiting until the second round is this is a low OL draft class..Derek Newton may never play football again, tore the same tendon in both knees at the same time...crazy...

The goal was to clear cap to sign Romo, they had to pay someone to take Brock because of his salary..

Wasn't even invited to the NFL combine. Compound that with his recent injuries

IMO, Joshua Dobbs will be the best QB in this years draft. Graduated Deans List high honors in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, kid is never in trouble, a leader on and off the field , was named the Torchbearer award winner which is given yearly to a UT undergraduate who examplifies high moral character in the classroom and in community

One of only 4 QB's in SEC history to pass for 50 and run for 30 TD's - Tebow, Prescott, Manziel. Kid's a winner and the kind of player you want to represent your organization

I like Dobbs also. My concern with him is his arm. I keep hearing it is not very strong. But, he is definitely smart and athletic.

Kelly is bad news and will flame out quickly.

Texans need to sign Cutler and let him get his DA beat as we build the OL. Next year there will be some free agents on the market or perhaps someone in the draft......we aren't going to suck any worse than last year which was not a disaster.....less questionable positions than a lot of teams......

Mahomes is far from just abother TT QB. He is much bigger, 6'2, 230lbs, than any QB they have had and much more athletic. He also graded out at the combine as having the strongest arm in the draft this yr. Not saying he is going to be the next Brett Favre but he does have a different skill set than other TT QBs.

The Texans should get free agent RB Isaiah Crowell from the Browns!
Get Kurt Cousins QB from The Redskins he's a free agent.
Name one great college QB/ first round pick QB that is worth a hoot in the NFL today?
Name one NFL top ten picks in the last 5 years that is still worth a hoot or that is not plagued with injuries?
Look how well that NFL team in North Texas has done with Dak Prescott? That team would still be terrible if Tony Romo wouldn't have got hurt, **** it!
The Patriots with Tom Brady.
Both of these QBs were picked up in the 5th or 6th rounds.

This 1000% I would hate for the Texans to get him. Dobbs I am ok with as long as it is in the 2nd round or later.

There's lots of guys taken in the top 10 that were great picks. There's always the 5, 6, 7th and undrafted guys that hit and get glory for it. The #1 guys are suppose to be great. Only one way to go when you're on the top.
