Looks like things are set for me and a buddy to go up tomorrow and wire up the cabin and also get it ready for a mini-split AC system that Airehead is going to install soon. Can't wait.

Got everything dine except tying in new panel on cabin to the existing breaker box. Forgot to take pics after all plugs , switches, fixtures put in. Got about 9 outlets inside, 3 outside, outside light over deck, water heater and AC wires ready to go, AC disconnect, and more. Long day yesterday.

Hopefully can finish up soon and then start on plumbing.

Thanks guys! Put in several hours today working on our section of the private road and putting in some insulation in the cabin. Got most of the outlets and switches done with a few other things. Still haven't tied the new breaker box on the cabin into the main power. Should be another week or two. Got a hunt coming up thurs-sat so won't get to go up there.

Insulation was put in random pattern. Couldn't do the corners because I have to frame them out to make a true 90 corner to attach the walls properly. Need a few more rolls to finish up.

Had about 50 tons of 1"-3" steel slag brought in Friday. Spent a few hours spreading it out, filling in low spots, and trying to put a crown on the road. I probably need a few more loads to do it right but it looks 100% better and much smoother.

Here's a short video of the piles the truck left me to work with. He was supposed to spread it out evenly down the road but had some technical difficulties with his dump trailer.

Driving me crazy not to get up there and finish up some stuff. Hopefully will finish electric and insulation and possibly the paneling/walls in a few weeks. Taking a break for a trip to Big Oak Bowhunting tomorrow through saturday with some TBH'ers. Hopefully come back with some fresh protein.

Been slowly chipping away at the to do list on the cabin. Finished up some wall insulation (except the bathroom). Put some R-3 panels on the ceiling. Built an outside cabinet for the water heater. Riding mower is still out of commission. So push mowed for a couple hours. Mary and abbie did some painting but i forgot to get pics.

I know what you mean about push mowing. Same thing here. I jacked up the riding mower & used a push mower to mow about a half acre. Coming together for you Chew.

Mr. Chew,
You've got a very nice place there and you've put a lot of work into it. But even the work can be fun when it's your own place. Seems like you never get it all just like you want it. That's part of the enjoyment or at least I think so.
I love that country around there. Back in the 60s and early 70s I hunted my dad's cousin's 80 acres just South East of Centerville. Wasn't very many deer back then but I had a lot of enjoyment there. He lost the place in a divorce.
In 88 and 89 I hunted a 2400 acre lease between Centerville and Buffalo. There were a lot more and better deer then than the early years. And I still liked that area. Beautiful country.

Thanks for sharing your place and your progress with us. It pleasures me to see someone deserving being rewarded and enjoying life.

Keep the thread going, please.

Awesome place ... just finished reading this thread. If you haven't hung the panelling on your new place I would suggest beefing up the framing by putting an extra 2x4 on either side of the door so it is a double stud frame. Would at least do hinge side at a minimum. The weight of the door itself is asking a lot out a single 2x4. Would also add double 2x4 headers (strong way) above the door and windows. After this add a cripple stud above the door and windows to pick up roof load (cutting span of top plate). Add additional cripples (or jack studs) to bottom of the window sills. Good luck with rest of your build - thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Very true words right there.

I've been working harder than a rented Mule the last few weekends. Had to relevel my building because of the crappy construction company that built the cabin. You wouldn't believe what I went through to get the center blocks underneath the building. Had to rebuild the corners of the cabin so that I could attach paneling. Finished up a bunch of insulation, gathered up some PEX Plumbing and supplies, a new toilet, shower stall and a 24-inch vanity for the bathroom. Now just need to get time to get everything installed.

Good weekend coming up. Getting the electrical in the cabin hooked up to the main power so will finally have some lights inside. Got a plumber coming saturday to make a materials list and he will be back in a few weeks to finish plumbing the bathroom (shower, sink, toilet, water heater, etc.). Getting closer to making mamma happy again.

It was hot and humid. I got power! And got all the hard paneling cuts done. Bruce BWWSR came by this morning and gave me a hand with some Miscellaneous stuff. StanR came by last week. Good folks to be friends with.
