    Elk Roast

What is a good recipe for a elk roast or suggestions?

Spice it with whatever you like to spice your steaks with, coat it lightly with flour, brown it, put it in a roasting pan with a cup or two of water. Add 4 to 6 large peeled turnips. You throw these away later, they remove any strong or gamy taste. Cover and roast in a 325 oven until you can stick a fork in it, twist it and pull out a plug. You can remove the turnips after the first couple of hours and add your taters and carrots. We like mushrooms, too. Thicken the gravy with some flour and water and your ready to eat.

The left-overs make great enchiladas! Or pot pies, or tacos, or stew with dumplings.......you can get a lot of meals out of a big elk roast.
