Origins of Dairy Dream in TX?

Some friends told me several years back that they had owned what I thought they said was a Dairy Dream restaurant here in TX. Believe it was in the 1950’s or possibly even ‘60’s. He passed away several years ago. Can’t ask his wife as she is in her mid 90’s and her memory of things is gone.

Does anyone know if Dairy Dream was anything like Dairy Queen where you could buy franchises? The way the two of them spoke about this particular location suggested it wasn’t a franchise.

This is one in Taft Texas and has been forever. My parents used to hang out there in high school and we ate there growing up. We still get a burger there when passing through.

There was a Ken Kream in Kenedy, Texas that was awesome too but they retired and its now a mexican food joint I believe.

Used to be a Dairy Queen there for sure when we hunted in the area but I'm not sure if it is still there or not with all the DQ closures.
