    Trailer builders ????

I have built several single axle and a couple tandem axles in the past. Now to my question, I am building a mustang drag car and want a small light weight trailer to load and go for quick test trips. I hate the twin 3500 lb axles mainly due to tires. My thoughts are 16'. Take 1 -7k drop axle and run 14 ply 16" tires with brakes on the axle. The car weighs 3k, so I have room on weight. Planned on using 3x5 angle with 2x3 cross members welded inside the 3x5. Use 5" channel for full wrap tongue. Tow vehicle is f-250.

I did something very similar, for the exact reasons you've stated. I built a 24' on a single 7,000lb axle to haul golf carts and other toys. I pull it with a 3/4 ton diesel pickup, which helps keep it all stable. Obviously having the load balanced is a big factor too. I like it and It's made a couple trips to New Mexico without any concerns.
