Default I just don't get posting while you hunt...

Please. I'm not smacking on anyone.

I know I'm old school but it's seems really weird to me to stay on the iphone/blackberry/whatever while you are hunting...

I guess the biggest thing I have always enjoyed about hunting is the solitude and quiet and the almost zen like "perfect stillness" and just absorb whats going on around you.

I know everyone has their own way of enjoying the outdoors and I appreciate that you want to share it. I guess that growing up hunting without cell phones etc. just wired me differently.

Again, not smacking on anyone. Am I the only one on TBH like that?

Not alone- I usually call my wife when I hit the gate and then use my phone for an alarm in the morning. Dont pick it up again until I hit the gate headed home. If you want to see me get really mad let a cell phone ring or start talking on the phone when we are wading a flat and the sun is coming up.

i grew up with a paperback book in my hunting bag, with modern phones and better coverage you can now green screen instead, if i want the quiet turn the power off. its really the best of both worlds to me. i get to have my hunt and experience others hunts and thoughts while on stand. imho its the bees knees

Me too. I grew up with the only phones being pay phones for a nickle per call and * quarter to call long distance. And our home phone which was a party line shared with 4 other neighbors.

But now I run three different companies as well as my day job and I carry 4 different email accounts with me everywhere I go. Yep I have evolved with the times and I do just fine.

I will from time to time bring to the green screne a hunt or two and if you don't want to read it or join in on my hunt don't click on the thread.

Not smacking on anyone that don't like to share in real time but I do and I can so I will.

I can't even begin to tell you how frustrated I am with both the land and the landowner. He and I are gonna duke it out any day now!! Seriously!!

On a good note, we went down there today and made some alternative set-ups that look like they're gonna work. There is still 4" of water EVERYWHERE!!!

no your not the only one. I enjoy watching others live hunts, but I just can't make myself worry about that while I am on stand. I put all this work and effort into my setups, scouting, and management and there is no way I would take a chance missing out on my one possible shot opportunity because I was messing around with my phone or computer. Sometimes you only have a few seconds to get a shot off if a deer is moving through.

I dont disagree with what you're saying. I think a lot of us hunt just to get out there and reconect with things that arent in our control. That said, there's at least a million times that i've sat in my stand and wished i could just share it with someone who would appreciate just being along for the ride. Live hunts are a good outlet for folks who feel this way and i **** sure enjoy feeling like I'm with them on their hunt. Just my two cents!

I like it because I can keep a close eye on what my wife is doing in the stand. Shooting, not shooting, seeing anything ect. And when i'm not hunting, the live hunts are great.

I like when others do it so I can read along with their hunts.

Personally I don't do it. I do have my phone on me when I hunt but it's on quiet and stays in my pocket. It's only there for emergencies.

for those of us who have ADD (or in my case ADHD) its a way to break things up without getting up and walking around or anything else that can spook the critters. i enjoy my time outdoors and away from work or other daily stresses having my phone is a way to make it last longer for me. otherwise i would most likely go out and after an hour call it quits cause im bored and restless. it allows me to spend the entire day in the field.

I like the live hunts, and i like being able to text when necessary. I try to aim for zen solitude, but it's really helpfull to have the guy on the next stand give you a heads up when something's heading your way!

Plus, as others have mentioned, I have a Wife and 2 Princesses that need to talk to Daddy occasionally!

One of my co-workers left me a voicemail that started with; "I don't know if your cell phone works on the deer stand...".

I had to call him back later that morning to tell him that I don't know if it works there either; I don't take it.

I also enjoy the quiet and would miss too much around me if I would be looking at a screen.

Cell phone has replaced a paperback book while stand hunting for me. Personally I don't require a lot of concentration to shoot something thats eating corn from my feeder 20 yards away. Now still hunting is a different matter.....but I'm way past still hunting anymore, too old, too fat and too noisy.
Thats the great thing about cell phones or laptops or whatever you take onto your stand, you have a choice to do it or not.

In the bow blind I very rarely touch my phone. But in the gun blind I'll use it when I'm getting restless. But I'm like alot of people and enjoy my solitude. Sometimes I'll cut my phone compleely off for
a day or so just to be left alone.

I think I've got the A.D.D. so I get bored easily. Texting in the stand keeps me entertained and lets me stay in the stand longer. And I enjoy knowing what my hunting pals are seeing or killing.

Sitting in a box blind over a feeder in Texas I'll use by BB to kill time. In a self climber on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, 20' up in the hardwoods I would not.

I have never taken any electronics to the stand, and don't plan to. One of the best things about hunting for me is getting away from all the noise, and people and just enjoying the peace and quiet of being up 20 feet in a tree.

I enjoy the time in the blind with a paperback. I look forward to those times all year long.

I have text before for hunting reports from my buddies on the same ranch, but it got old checking my phone all the time.

I really do not even care to read live hunts. I guess I never got a kick out of reading someone else "real-time" hunting experience. To each his own, but it is just not for me.

Sitting the blind reading this thread right now.
I like the ability to quietly communicate with the others I'm out with to get/give reports..
Also like reading the greenscreen ..and tell my wife what to have on the table when I get home (not that she does..but its nice to be able pretend like she would)...
Also like sending pics to the others and my facebook page from my blackberry looking down my scope at the 7point I can't shoot that's been grazing at the feeder for 45minutes....

I tried it this weekend and I'll tell you it is really hard to do when the signal is low. The one good thing about cell phones is you can communicate with others and let them know when a big buck is headed there way without making any sound. Texting really works on stand for me.

I do not like reading some ones text that I dont know from green screen, but I do enjoy texting with my buddies on the same lease as me. Its nice to know who else is having deer movement.
My Dad and i were hunting public land and he texted me that he was ready to meet at the truck. I told him to hold off that the deer were just starting to move where I was. Sure enough my Dad stayed in the stand and 20 minutes later he killed a big fat doe that came out at 11AM!!! We would have been at camp eating/drinking and you never know that doe could have been a monster instead!!!

As has been said...to each his own....but....

I hunt to get away from the ratrace...leave that crap at home. Plus my lease is way out there and only Cingular works so we have to have an extra phone/account for CAMP only. I like getting away when I hunt. No phones, no internet....but I do have video for the football games...that's different.

Bows have scopes?

I really enjoy the live hunts and wish that I sent them also. Problem is that I am for the most part a full "Zen Mode" still hunter. All electronics stay in the truck. I AM IN THE WOODS
