There is existing septic somewhere here. Lol... At one time there was a mobile home in this exact spot. As long as I didn't build on top of the tanks then we will locate, have cleaned and tie into them. Water is already here as well. If septic can't be located then I will install (2) 500 gallon tanks and lateral line out.

Almost have all OSB up. Just a little left on the sides. Little windy today and I'm really chancing it by myself so thinking of pulling off of it and getting string line marked for porch post.

Thanks guys. Lazy lazy lazy past 4 days. Im getting after it this week. Should really take shape over the next 2 wks!

9 yr anniversary Wednesday, oldest son's birthday Saturday so probably take a couple evenings off to celebrate. Should accomplish a lot though framing the deck/porches.

I don't remember if you mentioned it, but why the aversion to windows? Was staying in a small 300 sq ft cabin this past week that had no less than 8 windows! It was nice having all that natural light.

Looking at the sheathed walls, that house seems like it will be dark!

Easy way to stay cool! Still plenty of natural light will enter. Remember this is only 1000 SQ/FT. Also it's not my home. I'll build it however they want. The reason they want less windows is for plenty wall space for furniture, entertainment center, etc. Grand room has 3 windows and 2 full glass doors, master 1 window and 1 full glass door, kids rooms 1 window each. No room for anymore if you figure in furniture.

My home has very few windows. I personally love it! I spend a lot of time outside and like coming in to a cool dark place.

Our house is a 2 story log house and just over 2000 sq/ft with a wrap around porch too. The dining/living room has 4 double windows and 2 doors. Even with all those windows it still lets very little light in the house. The porch knocks back a lot of light that would normally come in the windows. So with a wrap around porch I don't think they will be really losing that much more light with less windows inside the house just being able to view outside would be the main loss.
How big is the porch going to be? Ours is 8 ft all the way around and there is more sq/ft of porch than the bottom level of the house.
Keep at it the house is looking really good and I am enjoying following along.

8' wrap around. There will be plenty lighting inside throughout. Not a concern at all.

Y'all crack me up!

Finished all OSB finally. I still need to add the framing on side eaves. Built them today just need to nail up. Porch framing will be going full swing Saturday afternoon pending weather.

Had to quit early due to lightning the last 2 evenings but still no rain.

So you're the reason we're not getting any rain! At this point, I'm willing to sacrifice your safety to get some rain. Try staying out and working in it tomorrow. Just kidding, but it's looking good! You've probably said it, but I don't remember, what's your projected finish date? On a side note, is this house for the sister you posted in the "hog problem" thread? You might have a lot better luck selling things on here with her being your new neighbor, if so.

LOL... No it's not her house. She lives way west of here!

I really wanted to be done before deer season. Yeah that ain't gonna happen! I really hope sometime in October but I've got to get a move on. Been hard managing 2 ranches 14 hrs a day and then coming over here. I will probably have to take a weeks vacation from one to catch up. Probably during }}}}}}}---------->>>>>> Season!

Mowed the site and did some dirt work to prepare for porches. Eaves are framed and ready! Rained majority of the day and looks the same for tomorrow.

Isnt the OSB supposed to go the other way?..8' side laying down, That way it ties in more and makes for a stronger house....

It can go either way. The house is very sturdy!

The OSB I purchased is marked horizontal. I picked up a few pieces from Lowe's and they were marked both ways. Really it doesn't matter everything is tied in.

Made some progress this evening setting porch post. I also located the previous septic tank! Not in too bad of a location and should be able to work around it. Guessed we saved a little bit of $$$$ not having to have someone come out and locate.

Ordered all decking material and spent $3850. That does not include framing material for roof over porches. Looks like I'm going to bust my original budget of $15k for full shell dried in. That did not include siding. Probably bust it by $2-$3k. Hopefully catch a break along the way with something.

Early pic of this evenings progress. Was able to get majority of the post set.

Glad someone can see it!

Post set. Have a couple in the back where I found septic. Just going to set post on each side of the lid so it can easily be accessed. Won't be an issue either way.

4 pallets of treated 2x6x8 along with all 2x6 and 2x8 deck framing being delivered tomorrow! I would love to have the entire deck complete by Sunday evening but we will see how it goes. Hopefully I figured up all material correctly.

Little frustrated at the moment. Planned all wknd to knock out the porches. Ordered material last Wednesday and was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Came over this morning to no lumber. Went to the store and my order was placed on the wrong clipboard. Now delivery is held off until Monday. I'm already behind schedule enough as it is. Looks like I will be jumping inside marking electrical and drilling what I can.

Little piddling around this wknd since material didn't show up Friday. This week and next should be lots of progress!

As mentioned above I located previous septic. Going to have it pumped and remove lid to see where it goes. If there is only one tank here we plan to set another and go out from that! Close to the house but not set on using just yet.

Moisture barrier wrap going up and electrical outlets placed inside.
