    Woodpecker. What type, don't know.

      i have a Cooper's Hawk that hunts the pigeons out of my backyard. Every other week or so, there is a big pile of pigeon feathers under the feeder. I wasn't sure who the hunter was until I watched him swoop in and destroyed one of his latest meals! Pure awesomeness!

        Grew up calling them the same.
