    Living in Minnesota??

My company can't figure out where to move me. First it was Idaho, then Oregon, then Arizona, now it's either back to Dallas area or Minneapolis MN area.

Anyone lived in Minnesota? It seems like kind of a boring place? But maybe because I've never been. Is there good hunting?

The best hunting is about 3 hours south in Iowa good fishing up north, and I suppose there are probably some decent deer in areas. Be ready for cold, and snow. It snowed several inches where I'm at, and I'm still about an hour south of Minneapolis. I have several family members in Minneapolis and they all enjoy the city, so that's a good sign. People are nice!

i was born and raised there - northern Mn....

Plenty of walleye fishing, deer/duck hunting as well as predators....and, as a bonus, you can become a Vikings fan!!!!!!!

Holler if you have any questions.....

We have some friends that moved up there a couple years ago. They live close to downtown. They like it, think the people are friendly and said the food is pretty good. Lots of fine arts type stuff and museums as well. With that said, they said the winter is brutal. Literally, said people avoid going outside. They live close to the Mall of America and go there a lot in the winter as most of it is indoors. Many days wind chill is below zero and it's not until mid-april before you get out of daily temps below freezing. Apparently, there's not much to seasons up there either. About half the year is summer months and the other half is cold winter months. They said spring and fall were nice, but not much more than a few weeks it seemed.

Bottom line, if you can get by the cold winter, it's not a bad place to live.

Yeah I'd move to Texas. But walleye is delicious.

I spent 9 - 1-2 week vacations up there on Lake BellTaine and fished between there and the Canada border all over. We were chasing smallies, perch, walleyes, pike, and of course black bass. Those northern Minnesota lakes absolutely blow Texas out of the water for numbers, beautiful water, eager biting fish and landscape/views. If not for the long winters, I could see myself living up there and loving every minute of it.....and I love Texas. Its another world up there and most of those folks like to troll or fish for walleyes. When I was going black bass were trash fish...lol. It is a bass fisherman's dream if you can get it in your mind that a 6-7lb fish is a giant up there and enjoy 100 fish days. They are hard working folks who love their summer vacations to their lakes up north. The land of 10,000 lakes...and that doesn't always count the ones without a set boat ramp. Love that place. Need to go back before I get too old.

I'd find another job before I moved to Minnesota.

                  hahahaha

i dont know if i can handle the winters honestly, that's what scares me. I've lived in Texas pretty much all of my life other than 2 years as a really little kid in Tennessee.

The housing prices seem pretty affordable though, and I guess I'll have to see if the raise is worth it.

Hunting pike with a 270 is a ton of fun. That was years ago, and may not be allowed anymore.
Not sure if it was ever "allowed", but it was very popular, very fun and very sketchy . Like opening morning of deer season, but on the water.

I took a job north of Amarillo for a few years, and I couldn't handle those winters. Lol

Winter up there is better than Texas. Even though the temp is colder, it will feel much warmer. The air is way less damp. Ice fishing on lake superior is awesome, other lakes for fishing, great white tails (the correct size, not small like here), tons more public land, better beer, fish frys, in state casinos, shorter drive to montana for elk, the list goes on and on.

                        Good luck
