Default Cowhide tanning... Alive on the Hoof

Alrighty. My mom lives outside of Princeton.
(NE of Mckinney)

She has a 15 year old cow that is on her last leg, no pun intended.

For sentimental reasons, mom wants the cow caped out and the entire hide tanned.

Kicker is, for sentimental reasons, she also can’t/doesn’t want to process her, herself.

Anybody know of anyone within an hour or so of Mckinney that can do both jobs?

Also, she said if anyone wants the cow for processing- Fine. “BUT”, she wants the hide perfectly caped and frozen.

May check with these guys and let them know what you want. They may not tan the hide but may be willing to save it for you to take to a taxidermist.

The entire process needs to be done in a air conditioned environment this time of year.. Big, full hides like that are at a high risk of slipping in this heat.. Unless someone knows how to mix up a weak acid brine to soak it in immediately, to slow down bacteria growth, I wouldn't even begin to attempt to skin her in this heat.. It will slip chances are.. Then it needs to be fleshed and salted pronto!!!!

If it can wait until winter I would wait.
