    Knife Sharpening

Gents having trouble putting a good edge on my hunting, edc blades. Need some advice on knife sharpening, I am relatively inexperienced.

    Thanks

I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker. It's really hard to mess up the angles, and it'll put an edge on most anything.

I think the Apex Edge Pro is one of the better sharpeners out there...more time consuming, but more exact & repeatable for all your knives be it hunting or kitchen. Kind of expensive.

Does that attach to a work bench? or is it stand alone?

Does a great job, but depends on the angle on the knife. Doesn't remove excess metal like a work sharp. I use a stone also.

Worksharp is ok for “touching up” a blade, but Lansky is better if you need to actually put an edge on a knife.

                  I have and use both.

This is what I have. I'm not very patient, so it works well on my cheap knives. Wouldn't try it with a custom though.

Stand alone, I use this and it works great. You can just run the knife through the steel every now and then to keep the edge, don’t always need to use the diamond sharpener.

This. I don't have show knives. I use cheap knives and can get them razor sharp with it.
