    Working on a new knife.

Slowly working on a new knife. I thought I would post a few pics along the way.

    Finished up the initial grind.

Hardened, tempered and hand sanded at 120 with a lot more to go.

Gonna finish out the hand sanding in the next few days. I will be putting some pretty stabilized redwood burl scales on it.

You have a gift. I'm sure it'll look great in the end.

      Hollow or flat?

Flat. I have a Coote 2x72 two wheel grinder with a flat platen. It has its limitations but it was the only decent grinder that fit in my budget.

Thanks for the compliment Sam. Although me and my bucket of ruined blades would disagree.

Looks great; I like a high flat grind, makes for a good cutting tool with less restriction. One suggestion before you sand too much, you might to bring up the grind on the left side to match the grind on the right side. It seems to stop short of the spine by about 1/8 inch.

Thanks for the advice! I actually stopped a little short on both sides. I just don't care to take it absolutely all the way as I have found I will get into spine too much.

I wish I had those skills! I use to cut blanks (rough shapes) for a knife company about 10 years ago

Are you talking about the plunge line or the actual flat ricasso area?
